Any way of getting out of my contract?

I think if I can't get out if the contract my next option is to let me friend finish it off? She's currently on pay as u go and spends more than I do each month. She would take it over if it's possible but will need a new number? (transfer names?) (I wish to keep mine as had it for 14 years). Is this at all possible?
To transfer a number you need to port it elsewhere, to do that closes the account, Sorry, the only hope if to get a friendly customer service person who can bend the rules or find a creative way to let this happen but I'd not be hopeful of this.0 -
A friend of mine was going to take over my orange contract, but because of my reasons on wanting to change provider she decided against it. (3g does not work with orange)
I still have another year left
. I have been a loyal customer since 1999.
Is there another way? What about me saying I am moving abroad?0 -
Death or bankruptcy are the only reliable methods. Your choice.
If 'going abroad' worked, then the UK rate of emigration would be much higher! No free lunch, and no free laptop

They won't take going abroad as a reason to cancel the contract, they'll make you pay the remainder. You could try and get yourself a lengthy prison sentence, that'll get you out of the contact without any penalty (apart from being in prison of course)0

Some telco's will give you a discretionary waiver if you are called up to serve in the forces overseas, you may prefer the other options though...No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you intend to move to another provider, I recommend you sell your current handset and use the cash obtained to offset the monthly bills you have committed to pay Orange when you took out the contract.John0
