Taken 75 pics of items to put on ebay on 10p listing day. Hopefully will make some money from these.

And my plan for this months wages is to pay:
    Dentist £35
    Dad £110
    Brother £100
    Fiancee £370
    Credit Cards £150
    T Mobile £65
    Mum £300 (inc £150 rent + £150 what i owe)

That will leave me dry, But next month will need to borrow £200 for paris and then will owe:

    £3.4k BarclayCard
    £1.35k Virgin
£650 Mum (inc next months rent)
    £35 T Mobile
    £210 O2
    £10 Sky HD

From next months (FEB) wages will pay.

    £650 Mum
    £200 Credit Cards
    £200 Paris Money
    £35 T Mobile
    £10 Sky HD

Will leave £100 will use this for the month petrol and haircut etc.

To be honest spending money on holidays while you are in debt is silly, your just adding to the debt. Why not pay all your debts, then save for a well earned holiday

Scrap sky, you say it's a luxury you need, but you are in debt, when your in debt you can't have luxuries i'm afraid

I also had a huge LOTR collection, i had to sell it at auction to raise the funds to pay off some of my debt, i felt sick selling it and gutted but you have to do these things if you really want to clear your debt.

I havn't had nor have my kids a holiday because i have to prioritise and clear my debt first. That comes first when your in debt, having a luxury like sky should come after you have cleared all your debts and your able to pay for them.

It's not worth asking for help if you won't listen to advice and dump the things you don't really need.

whats the O2 debt? and why arent you budgeting to pay anything during the next 2 months? (or have i missed something?)

you spend £50 to £100 on dvds/cd per month?
you must have wall to wall storage units full of them......! why dont you try some of the dvd rental trials....... using one of the cashback sites as well

I owe then money from an old phone bill. I am aiming to pay off family members before i tackle the rest of the debts. Ive got about 350-400 dvds and around 150-200 cds.

My Holiday to paris was paid for by my partners company and we just paying for spending money. The USA holiday is only £550 for 2 weeks and the only time of year that i look forward to. Maybe your right perhaps i shouldnt ask for advice if my heart aint in to clearing the debt. The lord of the rings collection is huge and should make a few quid, where did you sell yours? and what items did you have? Thanks

I sold my LOTR collection on eBay. I had everything from Mini LOTR swords to Topp cards. I got about £500 for it all. I was gutted because it was my hobby and LOTR still is my hobby but paying my debts off had to be more important. Once i'm totally debt free and have educated myself to remain debt free, i will start collecting LOTR stuff again.

You must get rid of those luxury items you pay for if you are serious about clearing your debt and that may mean living on a basic budget as if you were in poverty.

Once you are debt free then you can reward yourself on holidays.

I dream of the day i can finally take my kids on their first proper holiday with me and not feel guilty when they go with their dad.

    Good luck
  • Ive been collecting for about 3 years and have loads of figures many boxsets all unopened, sigmed books, offical bags, books, puzzles, games, dvds, ps2 games, you name it ive got it. Id like to think id get about a grand for the lot, did you list your items on their own or as a lot?

If i cancel my Sky and Holidays i wouldnt have an intrest in anything.

You're robbing Peter to pay Paul. Are your Dad & Brother desperate for their money? If they can wait another month then use the £210 you were going to give to them for Paris & then you won't have to borrow anything else.
In the mean time, have a surf around the internet for free/very cheap things to do in Paris, so you don't spend over budget whilst you're there.
  • Thats an idea. Thank you.

  • Hi deanschild just wanted to welcome you & say good luck with the debt clearing.

You do spend a huge amount on CD's and DVD's don't you? Phew!

I would also recommend doing the free trials via QuidCo to get cash back but just make sure you cancel them in good time!

You do have to cut right back on that particular expenditure and throw that money at a debt.

However if there is anything that you simply *must* have - buy it through QuidCo if you don't already!

It's true that when in debt you have to cut back on so called luxuries however it is unrealistic to say you will never spend *any* money whilst paying off debts. Be smart about the money you *do* spend and ask yourself every time you reach for your wallet if this really is a necessary purchase.

It's about changing your mindset as much as it is about changing monthly balances on a sheet of paper.

Good luck and keep posting your progress - it will keep you motivated I promise.
