'It's only an interview not a job offer.....'
Erm; you do know that a job offer usually follows an interview, not proceeds it?
Luckily, a more mature and sturdy person will now get that job. Result. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

You didn't even get a chance to turn the job down as you didn't go to the ruddy interview.
Why apply in the first place????
No need to be rude
Jobs don't tell you how where the job is or how long it takes there. If I knew, I wouldn't apply there.0 -
My journey to work is about 45 minutes (30 minute bus journey and a 10-15 min walk), I don't mind it. I take my ipod, so I don't have to listen to other peoples' boring conversations and I usually have some reading material with me.
It's slightly longer coming home, I leave work at 5 and am usually home by about 6.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.270 -

The interview might have been 56 mins away - but the job location could have been 5 mins or 3 hours away. But....you won't find out will you as you didn't go to the interview.
Doh!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I can see this from both sides really. There are people out there who would kill to have an interview for a job 56 minutes away but for the people who can afford to be fussy (please don't take offence to this, I consider myself among them) I can see that there would be more that might come into it.
56 minutes wouldn't be too far to go in terms of a job for me but I would be picky about the job in question. Personally I think your gut instinct was right in the long run, if you can't be motiviated to travel to the interview, you'd probably tire of the daily commute quickly.Thank you competition posters!

Or, indeed, do they want you to? Have you asked mum and dad the question? It may be their view that 56 minutes is far too near

When you're young, single and living with mum and dad you shouldn't plan your working life around the journey time to work! This is particularly the case when you don't even have a full time job at the moment.0

When I was 19 I would catch 3 trains there [the first one left at 6:30] and 3 trains back getting home at 8 or 9pm. But it was the 90s and I was a girl determined to earn her own keep. I moved nearer work after a month but no way would I let 56 minutes of commute be the barrier to working. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
