They would be breaching the 'trades description' if they were't genuine.
LMAO! As if the sort of people who sell fake memory cards give a toss about that. All they have to tell TS is that they thought they were genuine.

Not true if you buy via amazon or any other legitimate company. If you have a problem with something you bought, you go back to where you bought it, not to the manufacturer.
Remember you're not buying from Amazon, but from a third party who aren't vetted or checked by Amazon at all, and could disappear into the woodwork at any time. I can't think of any "legitimate" company that would sell fakes.

Any damage as a direct result of using fake mem duos is EXTREMELY unlikely in the first place.
But far more likely than using a genuine one. Take the risk if you want. I won't.

HAHAHAHA, omg I hope for your sake you don't seriously believe this. The money from these will be going to some dude buying booze, fags, fast cars and even faster women. Terrorism?!?!?!?!? for cocaine and herorin, yes, but for fake memory sticks... gimme a break.
The link between counterfeit goods and serious organised crime is well-established. Maybe your money isn't going in that direction, but maybe it is. You don't know. And the shyster you bought from probably doesn't know either.

Nope. The vast majority of fake mem sticks / mem duos are fine.
That's as maybe, but like I said, some aren't.

I think I have ended up with a fake I bought on ebay but its not working right...how can you tell if the card you get is a fake ? It was suppose to be a Sony 2GB card..
Does the Trades Descriptions act come into being? It is blatent and under a huge company like Amazon! It is bought through Amazon and therefore Amazon are responsible and will not disapear into the woodwork as one poster claimed!

its like people selling on eBay - it is the selllers responsibility. You are not buying from eBay as a whole entity e.g. like Tesco, rather you are buying from a seller on eBay.

There was a previous thread about this which opened my eyes. I paid £68 nearly a year ago for a fake Sony 2GB card on Amazon Marketplace (tecknet-online).

I sent the card back to them a few weeks ago complaining. So far I'm £68 down and memory card-less. I used it to turn my phone into an mp3 player so I'm *not* happy. Don't be fooled!!

I think there's some comeback with Amazon (they said something about a 2 month guarantee with 3rd party sellers), but I didn't find out it was fake til much later.

I feel sorry for you LouLou. Unless someone is totally clued up on memory sticks how can you distinguish a real from a fake? I think Amazon should take responsibility here and reimburse you. Why don't you contact Sony and warn them about this dodgy company?
