Ohh keep up! The discussion is about whether printing to PDF counts as printing for step 5 of that link.
You might not agree that using a PDF printer counts as printing, but at least make the effort to understand the argument!
So you don't regard the term 'Print OFF' as meaning print a physical copy 'off' then? Or are you simply trying to win the 'most pedantic poster of the day' award?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. As people have pointed out, the website does say that you will need to have the facility to print the ticket, although it is somewhat harsh that the driver didn't use a little discretion.
I've used megabus before and their e-tickets just require you to show the driver your reservation number. I punched this into my old-fashioned phone in text format and showed it to the drivers. They have been accepted every time.0 -

You are just making an assumption that they meant to paper.
You show me where they say they need a physical paper copy and I'll happily admit I'm wrong.
If being pedantic helps the OP get a refund of the ticket, that's all that matters.
Most people assume printing off means on paper.
Tech heads know that you can print to a file as well.
He printed to a file and took it with him, reasonably thinking it would be ok.
He should be refunded as he technically met all the terms.

I'll go along with that but I think its highly unlikely. As you say, most people 'assume' (although I would use the word 'considers') printing off means on paper. That's exactly the answer the OP will get I think.
The best case scenario is they offer him a refund as a 'getsure of good will' and maybe insert the word 'paper print out' in their terms.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Can anyone find where it says in the terms and conditions (i.e. the only bit that matters)..... that there must be a paper physical copy of the e-ticket?
I can't see it, all I see is that the e-ticket reference number & name must corespond to the drivers manifest and that a ticket must be produced on request. the OP satisfied these requirements.
Start with a letter to customer service - finish with a small claims court if necessary.0 -

In fact scribbled on the back of a fag packet is normally enough for Megabus.0 -

It's a question of interpretation of the T&C and instructions given in the booking process. I'm not convinced that what was on OP's laptop/phone** was the ticket rather than an image of the ticket. Others have taken an opposite view. And a court could go either way, too, regarding OP as either being hard done by or disingenuous.
Though I suspect the company would pay up rather than contest it purely on the grounds it would cost too much to turn up in court and defend it.
** and as a tongue in cheek aside - if on both which one was THE ticket?0 -

The actual trerm isYou will need to print out your travel ticket at the end of the booking process, please make sure you have this facility available
Not even the most pedantic "tech head" would consider that "print out" reads "print" to PDF.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
That's if you think of a "print out" as print coming out of a printer. (Far too simple a definition).
The "out" in print out can simply mean to output the data (to a file, or paper).0 -

Oh please, even I would struggle to stretch the pedantry that far.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
