Keep a close eye on him and let him know you are there and you love him - thats all you can really do at the moment.

If anything happens that feels dodgy, then step in.

I would be extreemely concerned about the situation. Do you definately know the women is from Russia? Remember the Orchid & Fred storyline in Corrie, she was really selling knickers at a market stall in Manchester.

If it was me I would get your dad out of the way for a while and drag the woman on to any form of transport back to Russia. I would definately be taking the woman aside for serious interogation about the situation.

You should let her know that you are very concerned and that she is in serious bother if she hurts your dad in any way.

Quick update, they seem to be really happy together so far and are trying to extend her visa for 2 mths i have voiced my concerns and dad is not silly and does have his head screwed on so im sitting back for now!!!

well thought id update you , my fathers lady friend gone home today, with the intention of comming back on a fiance visa..already applied for . IM still concerend as hes sent her of with enough money for spending on the train fair etc and to get a visa to come back with

Shes left alot of nice clothes here so she can bring more back so dad sure she be back soon!

A similar thing happened to me just after my Mum died. My (wealthy) Dad met a woman through the internet in the UK.

Cut a long story short she turned out to be a raging alcoholic, a liar and a thief (burgled a room in Dad's hotel and stole alcohol from the store), with a history of three pre-deceased husbands!!

The relationship went on for a year and we went through hell, she even rang me one day to tell me my Dad had died after he had been admitted to hospital following a heart attack.

I gritted my teeth throughout and was there to listen each time he found her in a drunken stupor - using this ploy I was able to keep track of all that was going in and be the little voice of reason. i wanted to slap him silly but he was still grieving the loss of his life partner.

Its all long over now and he'll soon be ready for me to rib him like hell!!

Your situation must feel a little better now!!!


PS She even stole and drank the sherry my little girl left out for Santa!!!

Please make sure that when you do those will papers she has a copy in Russian.I wouldn't want her to miss out.
Now how do you say inheritance in Russian?
Can she also have the pound sterling amount shown as Russian currency.:mad:

Just wanted to say this rings alarm bells with me too. If it were my father I would suggest that he go to Russia to meet her family for a week or so so that he can further determine whether she is genuine. Women on this scam scour dating agencies and singles clubs looking for middle aged men like him and want to act as the woman on their dreams so that they can get what they want.

My mums ex boss met a woman over the net from an eastern european country (can't remember where it was sorry) and they married after a whirlwind romance. Then once she had the visa she up and left and he never saw her or a few thousand of his cash again.

Also a friend of mine (30 at the time) started talking to a girl in the USA via webcam and fell in love with her. He actually got engaged to her and sent her an expensive ring even though he had never met her. The plan was that he was going to go over there for a holiday and get married to her whilst there and try to fool the immigration that they had not forward planned it. The plan was that she would move into a house and he would go there on holiday. But first she needed the house so he sent her £9,000 to put down as a deposit on one. She said she'd found a house but she needed another £4,000 for it and guess what - he sent it. They carried on talking for about another year via webcam and he kept asking when it would be OK for him to go there and she kept putting him off. Then the conversations got less and less until she stopped talking to him. Then she sent him an email saying that she was a lesbian all along and thanks for the good time!!! And his response was "Well you win some, you lose some".
