One of the google results was a post from you on Piston heads where someone has also asked you how you know this is the right name.

It doesn't look like that would be her name from the video.

Well, Rubia Hamid was in court for sentencing on that date. So she's definitely done something. I can only imagine that someone has phoned the court, and obtained details of the convictions of the couple of women who were sentenced that day.

To be devils advocate, I'm just wondering if considering these factors....
the sun being low on the horizon,
the pedestrian emerging from behind a car/bollards and
coming out of the shaded area,
her speed
The point of impact being the nearside headlamp area, not a full frontal.

She may well have not seen him and did not at any point see him
and may have heard the noise but assumed the noise was her going over a bump/over the crossing.

I'd like to know what her testimony was and I think it's possible she genuinely did not know.

That still would not be proof.

But maybe they have read the Times Online, in which case they really should quote the Times Online. I wouldn't say it unless I had read the Times article with my own eyes.

Of course. Maybe the person who posted it on here hasn't read the article or the other forums, but has spoken to the court? Who knows?

I have registered with the site, so it let me look at archived listings.

I don't know if they only update their sentencing reports occasionally, but I've looked for quite a lot of names on there previously and not found them. Maybe they only list reported cases? Or maybe they only list more serious cases? Maybe they don't update the site regularly with completed cases? I honestly don't know. She was in the list for sentencing on that date, though.

Phoning the court would only flag up a dangerous driving conviction, there may have been more then one on that day, the video could have the court date wrong. Very risky unless you are sure.
