How 'Genuine' are the Sales

It CERTAINLY seems that the 'Sales' are evenly split - with GENUINE bargains to be had - NEXT appear to be heading that 'list'.
On the other hand, the same old 'favoutites' are still trying to tempt us into 'debt' with 'dressed up' offers.
Good luck to those who have found real bargains, and thanks to those who have warned us away from the 'iffy' offers.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

The "Special Purchase" items are clearly marked and do not claim to be marked down but are there to drive footfall to departments when they are advertised. They tend to be fair value for money but the actual Clearance reductions are the best buys.
John Lewis doesn't take the retail trick of selling something at a higher price in a few stores only to claim it's reduced, all the time knowing it's going to be sold at a mark-down. When Debenhams indulges in this activity they call it "price establishment".0 -
Bah, I'm going to have to eat humble pie now - the bed is now reduced to £159, with an extra 20% off if you buy before 3rd Jan.Snaggles wrote:We've found this too - we have been looking at a childs bed in MFI, which was £198 in October (this was the standard price, it wasn't in a sale at all). We looked at the start of December, and the price had gone up to £315, so we had given up on buying it, as thought it was cheeky to increase the price so much. Today, it is in the sale for the hugely knocked down price of.........£198!
If you do buy from MFI though, make sure you buy online - it has cost us £132.20 online which was £159 less 20% = £127.20, then £5 delivery.
If we had bought in the store we wouldn't have got the discount, because online the minimum spend for the 20% discount is £99, whereas it's £199 in store, plus delivery in store is charged at £15, so it would have been a total of £174! So we saved £41.80, just with a few clicks of a mouse!
Needless to say I have just bought it lol!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Ive actually had some pretty good stuff in the sales this year, but Ive not braved a day of it just popped here and there.

I got a set of next placemats for £4
Today I went to the next clearance sale ( can you believe, there was actually women having a fist fight over a bag in there while i was in the queue :rotfl:
) This is next at its absolute cheapest
gorg brown Leather belt was 19.99, to me £1

Unbelievable bargains if you know where to look.
Im looking forward to the glut of bargains which will appear on ebay in the next 2 weeks, what with loads of selling of unwanted gifts ( gang dont sell unwanted gifts at this time of year, simply too much stuff on there, not much sells IMHO)
I have the spending bug again! Roll on january when I can climb back on board :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
