How 'Genuine' are the Sales

I shop online in the sales.
The Next sale is good - I get an 'invite' to place my order on 22nd Dec as I shop with them regularly (albeit always in the sale!). This is all stuff from their last 2 catalogues at half price so I think it is a good deal. I bought my boys all jeans for between £4 and £7 and myself suits for work for £35. Also husband get Italian leather shoes for work for £20 (would never buy them full price at £50+) Takes time to traul through the catalogues however.
I also buy some bits online at the M&S sale -not too bad but often the sizes I want are unavailable.
Also shop at Boots and get some gift sets reduced -for mid year birthdays and neices birthdays in Jan/Feb.
I buy all my Xmas cards and wrapping paper in the sales too -never, ever pay full price for these.
I think if you are careful and don't get too carried away (says she who speant nearly £400 @Next! :rotfl: ) -you can find the odd bargain.

I ventured out yesterday with DD as some vouchers were burning a hole in her pocket. While we were in I had a quick look at the sales in a few of the ladieswears shops Wallis Principals etc. The stuff on sale was the really sparkly christmas party dresses which you will have to wait quite a while to wear again or the weird coloured stuff they got in for this season ie vomity shades of mustard and green  lovely. I couldn't get near Next it was an absolute nightmare

I think the sales are an absolute swizz and a complete fix I will be avoiding the shops for the forseeable future :rotfl:Every Penny's a prisoner :T0 -

Only anoreixics and giants get good bargains.
The only shoes left are size 3, 4 and 8's and clothes are 6 or 16.
New look are the only ones i have seen so far with a permanant sale rack, i strongly suspect they are returns, end of line or damaged.
I used to work at MK1 about 8 years ago and the sales are planned well in advance but the end of season sales in march/april and oct/nov are probably the best if you like to buy a year in advance.
luckily though i only take a size 3 so i can get shoes for £3 or £4 each in new look0 -
I've been watching the MFI sale patterns for months now as I have £1150 of vouchers to spend there that I've saved from my Tesco points. The 'half price plus 20%' seems to be the most common and, guess what, it is on now! The best is 'half price plus 30%' but that only happens occasionally......I'll predict MFI might do a New Year weekend extra 10% off sale prices........puts crystal ball away!!!0

I've bypassed the MFI 'con'. I have a cousin who manages an independant furniture production factory . The best thing is, I can specify exactly what I want and it is dirt cheap. The prophet margins are huge for the retailers on furnitureGod made man, man made money, money made man mad0

the last time I went to a next sale it was all size 6 & 8 or size 20 stuff and was out of season, I can neaver get the size for the kids I want and have stayed away from all sales. I don't believe that there are bargains to be had at all, but then I'm a cynic now about salesOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102

There seem to be a lot of 'next' sale fans on here. Personally I love the next sale and that is the only one that I have bothered with. Got a very nice coat for £20.00. £160 suits for hubby for £75.00. Been very restrained this year. Spent over £400 last year in the next sale, still wearing the stuff now though and most of it is 1/2 price or less, you do have to get there early. I got a VIP invite and shopped online last thursday, and most of the stuff arrived Saturday

That wouldn't be Carpet Right, would it? About 6 years ago they had a 'sale' so we ordered a new hall and stairs carpet. As we were converting the loft we couldn't get it fitted until we'd finished. Several months later we got word from them that we had to pick it up as they could no longer store it. In the meantime they'd had a constant sale. I wouldn't have bought it so early if i'd known!0
