Matalan sale is great.
i saw some Jeff Banks stuff in there pre-xmas, and got all that i wanted inthe sizes that i wanted for half price. Even made it in time for the infamous £1 rail for lots of extras!0 -

The 'half price plus 20%' seems to be the most common and, guess what, it is on now! The best is 'half price plus 30%' but that only happens occasionally......I'll predict MFI might do a New Year weekend extra 10% off sale prices........puts crystal ball away!!!
MFI are apparently pulling out of the Tesco Clubcard scheme so dont hold on to your vouchers for too long.Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

although john lewis do have alot of special purchase items in their sale (stuff bought in to sell specifically during the sales) there are also the genuine bargains which have been on sale in the stores previouslyfinally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0

Couple of the things the kids wanted to buy with Xmas money and vouchers were in the sale in Argos, so they got an extra something each with what was left. Evans sale was crap. Didn't brave any others. Might have a look at Matalan tomorrow or Friday when the queues calm down. One day I might be more organised...........

The only shoes left are size 3, 4 and 8's and clothes are 6 or 16.
New look are the only ones i have seen so far with a permanant sale rack, i strongly suspect they are returns, end of line or damaged.
I used to work at MK1 about 8 years ago and the sales are planned well in advance but the end of season sales in march/april and oct/nov are probably the best if you like to buy a year in advance.
luckily though i only take a size 3 so i can get shoes for £3 or £4 each in new look
Well I'm a "giant" size 16 with size 8 feet and I can never find nice shoes or clothes in my size!

I'm going to spend them next week some time. I have exactly enough for what I want, but I'm going to see if I can haggle them down a bit more, apparently they often do that in MFI. An extra 10% off would do nicely!0 -
I hope i havn't been fiddled then. I bought this camera from Currys yesterday for £129 down from £299.99. I don't know if it was £299 before the sales but as i was looking for a digital camera this looked a good deal.

I think that if you were happy with the price you paid, then you got a good deal - How genuine the reduction is, or was, can in some cases be irrelevent - it is when retailers use 'questionable' tactics purely to 'get punters through the doors' that gets my back up.
In many European countries 'Sales' are strictly controlled - 'discounts' MUST be applicable to the price that the item was previously offered in that particular store and 'special purchases' for the sale must be clearly marked. In Italy, for example, sales periods are strictly limited and usually the 'sales' discount is global and applied at the tills. Seems a fairer situation to me.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi all,
I have only bought one thing in the sales and won't be buying anything else as I promised myself one thing. I had been admiring a purple coat in Jane Norman before xmas it was £85.00, I know alot for a 3/4 coat but its nice, anyway, wondered in and same coat was £42.50, half price, can't be bad will do me for a few years. I nearly bought it for full price before xmas as husband said get it as pressie from him but thought no, and he got me perfume. so got bought things for the one price.0
