Bought Asda smart price toffee's and thought they were pants in comparison to sainsbury's basic toffee's which are lush. Wasn't too keen on the smart price fruit foams or midget gems either.
The dolly mixtures are awesome in this range. Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0 -

What's bizarre is that the Basics grated cheese is cheaper per 100g than the basics block of cheese by (if I remember correctly) a factor of about 20% which cannot purely be down to the added glazing agent they use (they taste the same) Basics grated cheese gets a big thumbs up from me.
I have to strongly recommend against Basics lemon curd, it has the consistency of rubber and tasted like plastic with a hint of lemon. Really really horrible IMO.
Great list though - I've been thinking of compiling a basics 'Yay or Nay' list myself for some University of Bristol freshers this year so this should make my job much easier - good work everyone.0 -
I don't think this has been said yet, Asda Smartprice instant coffee granules ARE DISGUSTING!!
I've changed most of my shopping over to Value/SP/Basics ranges and this is the only product I really hate. Maybe I just got a bad one but it actually tasted like Marmite! I'll keep in the cupboard for when the mother-in-law invites herself over though0 -
