We buy the following regularly which we think are really good value:
Tesco value tomato ketchup (Tried Morrisons value
equivalent but didn't think it was as good)
    Tesco value brown sauce
    Tesco value sweet pickle
    Tesco value vinegar
Tesco value self raising flour (Tried Aldi's but didn't like it as much)
    Tesco value plain flour

I shop at sainsburys. This may all seem a bit ham orientated but...

sainsburys basics gammon steaks (price varies depending on pack size but we usually only pay around £1.80 for a pack of two). You may have to root through the ones on the shop floor to get two even sized steaks in a pack.

also sainsburys basics cooking bacon (about £1 a pack I think?). Its amazing stuff and perfect for pastas, risottos and tartiflettes... I usually get about 3 meals out of a pack (for three people).

And the basics gammon joints. perfect for two people. Again price varies but much cheaper than the non value range.

We have just bought some basics corned beef slices for packed lunches this week (perhaps too much ham in the diet!). Its pricey at £2.58? a pack of 8 slices so maybe worth getting a tin of standard sainsburys corned beef instead. Havent tried the basics corned beef tins as its never in stock!

I really like the basics salad potatoes they had lots in store last month. Good small size and lasted forever in the fridge and less eyes than the organic range.

My hubby swears by the basics Creme Caramel desserts (49p for 4)

I always use the tin foil (30p a roll). But the cling film is rubbish.

and yes we have now moved onto the basics jumbo loo rolls (1.49? for 6). Had guests over the weekend and no one noticed. I pointed out to my mum and she will now buy them as well! Anything else is literally money down the toilet...

Asda smart price sultana sponge cake is really yummy it was 95p for a good sized cake (sorry, no weight on packet).

    HTH

    Also

Tesco Value toffees 26p for 175g bag, these are yummy too - just watch those fillings though!

yes the basics cling film is the rubbish one - does not cling. Sad to see another price increase (the loo rolls). Was beginng to spot more people buying them instead of the brand name stuff so maybe thats why??
