LOVE the basic tortillas great with home made salsa
One to add that i did'nt like was the smart price tinned sweets corn also the tinned peas.0 -
I'd say any Basics/Value/Smartprice etc loo roll is not worth buying.
Smartprice flour is good (haven't gone through the whole list to see what's there and what isn't) oh and Smartprice and Value jaffa cakes are really yummy. Tesco Value stuffing mix is also really nice. That's all I can think of right now.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0 -
Basics toilet roll - the jumbo ones have gone up to £2 now. Which imo makes them not worth it when I can get Nicky or even Andrex for cheaper! You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I can't see if it's been mentioned but we buy Smart price passata and cat litter. Although we found mixing the litter with a better quality one works best. The Bob Martin cat litter is good value too.
Has anyone tried the Smart Price multi-purpose cleaner?0 -

Final side by side test was Sainsburys own brand (approx 90p, half the price of Heinz) and their Basics ketchup (25-30p).... We both agreed the Sainburys ketchups were more tomato-ey than Heinz and more to our taste. Of the two, I felt the basics one was very slightly sweeter, maybe a little more runny. But that was just nit picking, really. The basics ketchup is our favourite, now.
Also, the basics value dried spaghetti at Sainburys used to be 20p for 500g. It's suddenly doubled in price, against their ordinary spaghetti at 85p (?) The value spaghetti does have a different texture, I found, and it's harder to get it just spot on when you're cooking it - seemed to be a very short time between raw and suddenly overcooked and mushy! The ordinary pasta cooks more consistently and is easier to get to al dente. So, I've gone back to the ordinary own brand spaghetti, as I do prefer it.
thanks for the comments mayflower10cat, I have added your ketchup to the first page, if you have others, please let me know, thankyouTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
Not a fan of basics toilet paper, cereal or crisps. I tend to buy buy basics lemonade, mince, rice, pasta and printing paper for my printer.
I don't bother with the baked beans as the Tesco brand ones tend to be on offer at 4 for £1 or less so I just stock up on them or find dented cans reduced.
I haven't had the mince for a while as I have been able to find steak mince at the co-op reduced to 90p (with a sticker on it, so I put it in the freezer).
thanks for the comments paadzer, I have included your comments and "not worth buying" on the first page, thankyouTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
