It's not nonsense at all. While it may have appeared clear and unambiguous to you, it is absolutely, unquestionably the case that unless you are Flyboy152 or clairvoyant, you can not know what he meant. You can only know what you think he meant.
What he wrote was in clear English and there was no room for ambiguity. It wasn't written in the style of a politician or a spin doctor, it was clear for all to see.Bongles wrote:It may have been crystal clear in that there was no room for doubt in your mind about what you think he meant. That doesn't mean you were right. However, ...
I've never claimed I was right, I have just asked Flyboy to substantiate his statement, as have others, to seek clarification, given his subsequent backpeddling.Bongles wrote:... as I said, if confusion has arisen because what Flyboy actually meant is different to what he could reasonably have expected you to think he meant, Flyboy is responsible for that confusion.
And he has shown (yet again) that he is willing to make unsubstantiated statements and when challenged on them he is unwilling to back them up and instead accuse people of trolling."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Oh dear, another troll. When you have something useful to contribute, please do come back.
My useful contribution was post 116 which is a comprehensive analysis of the misunderstanding that has taken place between two posters.
I would love to contribute more to this thread but I must go! (And I say "must" not in any legal sense, but to mean that I have to go; I am using the words "have to" to mean that I feel the need to go in my own mind because I have other matters to attend to i.e. I can not make reference to any legislation that refers to me requiring to go).
Phew! Posting on MSE is becoming hard work!0 -

It would appear you are one of two people who think there has been a misunderstanding. Everyone else saw it for what it was."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Everyone? Who is "everyone?"The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Flyboy, why don't you just tell the people of this forum what the hell you meant because clearly not everyone gets it. If what you are trying to say is based on some legal law then please give some reference or a quote.
I bet the attention you are getting and your inability to answer straight questions is humouring you to no end, but i assure you that your elusiveness to answer the questions really is not that funny. Even my 8 year old nephew has stopped stupidly dodging questions for which he has no answers but to say he was wrong three years back (yes he also found it funny when he was 5).0 -

Were do all these idiots live, is there special home for them or something and they all get together to troll the forums?

In the time it took to do that cut and paste and make your comment, you could have easily explained exactly what you meant when you stated that a driving instructor "had to" buy a second speedometer if they wanted to use the car in question as a driving school car, and also that the second speedo "would be" required
Not "could buy", not "might buy", but "has to buy"
One short sentence would put this to rest once and for all.0 -

Read the flipping thread.
Instead of making insulting comments about other forum users why not just answer the question that has been put to you (by a number of different posters) and be done with it."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Instaed of spending too much time on pointless arguments, why don't you read the thread as well. As I tell my children, I am not here to do your homework for you.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I've read the thread and your response is conspicuous by its absence. What a surprise."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
