Enter the IMEI into this form and it will tell you the warranty status of your HTC

Well I just did that and it says:

"This device is Non Warranty in Malaysia"

What does that mean? I checked the IMEI against the box when I bought it, it's not one of the dodgy imported ones.

This device is Non Warranty in Malaysia or you may enter wrong Serial No. or IMEI No.!

Also got this, but then I never got the phone from Malaysia

My apologies, it looks as though that HTC warranty checker does not work on UK handsets.

HTC won't ask for any receipt. Their system will show up if the handset IMEI is under warrenty. I had a second hand phone repaired recently without any problem.
  • This sounds promising. Thanks a lot everyone. I'll update if I'm successful.

I've heard HTC aren't the speediest when it comes to repairs. When I had my iPhone, I sent it in for repair on a Monday, I had it back with me on Thursday.

I sent it away yesterday (I've only recently got back from holiday). They accepted the repair over the phone, IMEI was all ok and they sent me an email with UPS collection information and print offs etc. Problem is that in the email they sent me they said I need to send a print off of the 'check sheet' and also proof of purchase.

Of course, I have no proof of purchase so I just ignored it. I hope they don't reject the repair because of it... Will let you know.
  • Ok, it worked! Repair was very quick and thorough! Hope my drama might help someone else out!
