i'm joining this thread too. i managed to get pressies for my 2 aunties and the boys mum for next to nothing, so i am hoping to do the same again this year. i am going to collect freebies from all the cheap mag subs i have subscribed to, and collect freebies etc.
i am a member of pigsback etc and am trying to do xmas for as little as possible while still giving expensive looking pressies:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -

Hi
I want to join this thread, what a great idea...
Morrison's Saver Stamps £48 (carried over from 2006) - target £200
Morrison's Miles Vouchers £5
£100 saved, with intention of saving £50/month until Christmas 070 -
I have my first update - joined £20 per month savings club at work, have got nice big box for 'recycled' gifts, got my wrapping paper / cards in the sales and have started getting my vouchers (details in sig).
Plan to keep updating on this thread once a month to keep myself focussed for my minimum spend xmas 2007*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Well, my intention was a no-spend christmas, but seeing as I can't stay away from the sales, I think I'm as much in the savings club as the 'challenge'.
The first monthly SO to my savings account goes out tomorrow - £50, although normally it'll only be £20 (only intended to cover the kids pressies, as everything else is being bought over the year). And on 1st February, the TSB 'save the change' scheme kicks in, so I should hopefully save, and make, some money on that (they're matching savings for the first 2 months).DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

Just wanted to say I'm doing this but I'm only planning on updating my savings/vouchers etc monthly so my first will be at the end of Jan & I'l add it to my signature then.
Off to investigate the TSB savings thing, sounds promising!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

andi_c wrote:check out the reduced rolls of c.mas wrapping paper[particularly the metallic designs] which dont feature anything christmassy!
i can usually find rolls which have been reduced from £3 down to 50p, and this makes great expensive looking wrapping paper, suitable for use all year round.
then team it up with ribbon &bow sets which usually have about 75% off.
sorted!!
Hi Andi C - I have done exactly the same - in Superdrug I got 2 x rolls metallic paper with purple stars on them @ £0.49p each which will do for birthdays and other occasions. I also got a great xmas roll for £0.49p at post office. Then a box of 20 xmas cards in Superdrug again for £0.49. They are in the xmas box with 2006 unused xmas cards (we went away this year so only used around 6 - 14 left).
I have 1 x Boots voucher, 1 x Topshop voucher £10 each from Pigsback put aside. Plus we have a Waitrose £10 one, which is Mr EL's first - as it's his first, and as I also want to keep him sweet, I agreed that yes we could use this one for a sunday roast... then all the others go to the voucher pot. Seeing as he is already suitably impressed with my £60 or so from last year (6 months), he has agreed... :TMFW #185
