I've got a few more vouchers etc over the weekend.
£18.18 Argos Gift Voucher - (I took back a curtain rail but didn't have my recipt)
£16.45 in Piggy points, with approx £50 to clear
£29.19 in Boots points
£40.00 in Post Office Stamps (I use these to send off prezzies to family as it can all add up to ridiculous prices)
£15.00 Quidco. I've been waiting for my RSPCA Pet insurance money to come through since June!
So that totals £168.82, which at least half of it has been free!
I've lost my £2 tesco stamps! Lol. I'm hoping to put £50 on them by the end of the next week though.
I have one person completely sorted for xmas. I don't think me and the DH are buying for each other this year as I'm close to passing my driving test so will need the cash for a car etc.0 -
Thought I would join this thread, I love Christmas and have been trying to save money, points and free gifts all year for it! So far I've got:
£18 PiggyPoints
£25 M&S voucher free gift with car insurance renewal
£40.87 Boots points
£267 put away in a savings account throughout the year
I also have a few presents stashed as and when I've seen them this year, so hopefully this will all take the pressure off December's pay day!
I must say a massive thanks to MSE for all this - it's the first year I've been this organised with saving money, and buying presents when I see them and when they're on offer! Thanks all!Go your own way..

i didn't know there was thread for this.
i'm not doing very well. begin of year we were putting a couple hundred a month by. but few thngs went pete tong . and what we saved had to get used. but at least we had it there i suppose.
so all i have is £60 in morrisons stamp's.
and £80 in clubcard point's. ( see sig)
I've not got a great deal. but i'm better than last year. not got any pressies sorted either as can't think about that until my daughter's birthday in oct.
it does sound like i'm doing so bad compared to everyone else. but i will get there. i hope.0 -

Tosh! You had the money ready for the emergencies you needed it for didn't you?So instead of starting in the -£ you're starting fresh
No shame in that! And you're trying to save in advance even if you don't save much it's better than trying to pay for it all out of decembers salaries and ending up in debt next year right?

thanks tine.
we never go into debt over xmas. so if we only got £50 for pressie well then thats all we got.hubby and i have always said other come first. we will buy for our kids and family before we buy for us. were lucky as none of my family celebrate xmas due to their beliefs. which is fine. so we only need to buy for inlaws and our kids. we do tho buy token gifts for all hubbys grandparent's. so we very lucky in that respect.
i also figure i'm saving points up at tesco and stamps at morrions, but that doesn't mean it has to be for food. both places sell great pressie's.
you've really made me feel like i ma getting somewhere. thanks so much tine.0 -
Just found this thread thought i'd add my bit
I have £92.83 on my boots card
£1.27 on sisters boots card(which is also mine she hates boots)
£1 on debenhams gift card-got to start saving more
£2 in scotts vouchers
£20 on a next refund card
£20 on a wilko saving cards
£35ish saved from a survey site for highstreet vouchers
£21ish in loose change saved for presents
£8 in my paypal account.
My problem is in our house we celebrate xmas aswell as eid(muslim festivel)
this year eid 1 is in october-so spending on new clothes and presents there
then xmas-so more shopping/presents and food costs etc
then eid 2 on boxing day again so more clothes shopping.
At present it is ramadan so we are spending alot on food for the fasts
So try imagining the expense of xmas X3 within 3months-triple amount of stress!Love can tame the wildest0 -
