picked up some "disney cars hot wheels cars" for my son today, he only plays with cars or reads books (he is autistic), there was a token on there which you can get an extra car:)

I let my children spend £5.00 per person for Grandparent/Aunts/ Uncles etc. Have got the gift bags (really nice fabrix embroidered ones for £1.00 each from Boots - reduced from £5.00 each and full of sweets, so took sweets out and didn't count the £1.00 in the budget!) Have got some snap shut photo key rings for 60p each, candles 40p, cracker shaped soap 40p, christmas socks £1.00, mens handkerchiefs 50p each. Will also get the kids to make some gingerbread shapes to add in.

ooo what a fab idea the bags of goodies that is i always have my kids make things for the aunts/ uncles and grandparents and spend a couple of pound each but i like this idea as i was not sure what to do this year have done most things over hte last 8 years sot hat will be something different. I can make the bags too which will make it cheaper and a few things to go in the bags already that i have picked up for pence.
    Still Trying :o

I have noticed alot of people saying that they have Boots vouchers from Pigsback. I have £28.40 in reward points but cant find Boots vouchers in rewards anymore, have Pigsback stopped doing them as rewards I have to say the changes they have made to the site recently have reduced number of shop & earn sites and not many free piggy points click throughs to be had!

Had loads more cashback through Quidco £65 in 4 weeks for applying for Egg 0% card for bal transfer £35.00, registered with Gala bingo £30 (also won £25 with my £10 stake so Happy Days)!

I have reduced my Xmas budget for £750 last year to £600 this. I have loads to by for & have two teenage boys who would like a Nintendo Wii, so thats a big chunk of it gone already.

Just started shopping last week but got some bargains like £15 dressing gown for Neice for £3.

I Set a budget for each person Say £15 and if I buy I bargain in the sale I always go off the full price, if I get it cheaper then I class that as money saved but dont re-introduce it so my budget may be £600 but I might only spend £550 or less if Im lucky. Any money not spend goes towards summer holiday savings.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

We budget set aside £400 for Christmas throughout theyear by siphoning off a little money each month to an account that we use for stuff like car insurance, MOT, house inmsurance, TV licence, and Christmas - all those one off things that bite you in the bum throughout the year! But inevitably it isn't enough.
So I'm trying to amass vouchers and do a bit of shopping as we go along as well.

    So far have:
4700 ipoints - can get a Hungry Hippos game for DS and CD for my brother possibly ?
£10 M&S my cousin gave me as a thankyou for borrowing a buggy!
    £10 Boots from Pigsback
    £1.70 Boots loyalty points
    £3.50 Tesco = £14 clubcard deals
£2.74 pigsback points, hoping to increase to at least one more voucher before Christmas.
Also registered with Quidco tonight so hope to start collecting there too.

In terms of things I have bought:
    - 9 preschool teachers presents - little gift bags of smellies £1.50 reduce to £1 each in Asda - bought today
    - got tons of leftover mens hankies from some other fathers day or something, will get kids to decorate for Uncle and Grandad
    - got kids big presents - large lego set for DS and little dolls house for DD
    - smallish present for each - the Hungry Hippos game above for DS and dressup stuff for DD
    - got presents for about 5 children we need to buy for, got them half price in Disney store sale

    Need to get for:
    - stockig fillers for kids
    - Dad, Mum, MIL
    - kids need to do smtg for Nana and Grandma - like ideas of keyrings and goodie bags
    - OH - nightmare and expensive
    - baby - not born yet - am thinking something very practical like bibs LOL
    - sis in law - she is mega fussy
    - 2 x sets of friends - one I am thinking funky coffe cups free gift on Yves Rocher site, might buy stuff for sis in law to get the free gift .....
    - DS teacher - he doesnt start school til next week so bit weird to buy it now!

Would like to make gifts, I tried to do so last year, but I have baby due in 2 weeks so not sure that I will have time.

Have updated my sig, thanks to a bumper mystery shopping month & the strength of the $ to the £ I have had a really good month & made mega progress. Got a usually ebay £40 pressie (RRP £60) imported from the States for £28, found a good digital photo frame for Mum & Dad on ebay for £43.64 delivered. Am currently on track to bring in presents at about £60 under budget. If only I can do so well with the food shopping! Ah well, hears hoping....:p

Anything leftover from our Christmas budget is being put away in our "visit to Lapland when Spud is old enough" fund;)

  • I am behind with my savings this year - BIG TIME in fact!

I have a massive £2 in Tesco saving stamps
    Approx £28.50 in Boots points
And between me and the DH we have around £5 each In Piggy Points.

Although we have just joined with Powergen through piggy back and will be getting 4000 piggy points through soon, plus 900 clubcard points too! Good deal for those of you wanting to switch before "Central Heating" season starts.

I do have quite a few prezzies in the spare room though from sales etc, and 5 hampers half done too!

    So this year I say...

COME ON CHRISTMAS I'M READY FOR YA THIS TIME!!!

I'm a bit behind where I would usually like to be at this stage in the year, but I have the following:

    ~ £82 in Morrisons stamps :D
    ~ £20.53 on Boots card
    ~ £13.56 on WHSmith card
~ £120 (+ another £20 on its way) in John Lewis vouchers, courtesy of Pigsback :j
~ 6 presents bought completely, with partial presents/ideas of what to get (and money aside to pay for it) for another 8. This is where I am behind, because I am usually much more organised by now...:o

Still, it could be a lot worse! :p :rotfl:
