Need to sort my debts out - (Formally - Jacobs Certified Bailiffs)

what a pickle!
1) leave your doors and windows shut and locked as already advised, they cannot levy on your goods without getting in your house
2) who's names are all of the debts in?
3)they want you to make an agreement to pay with them, this means that they get paid, if you dont make an agreement and they cannot get access to your property to levy on your goods they have to return the debt to the issuing court, and they dont get paid a bean
4) if the debt is returned to the court ALL of the bailiff fees will be removed although the initial debt is still payable
5) there is a set amount of unsucessfull calls they are allowed to make to your property before the debt is classed as uncollected and returned to the court, this used to be 3 but that was many years ago
6)are you or your wife on benefits at all ? disabled? pregnant? this would class you as a vulnerable person according to the bailiffs code of conduct and they should leave you alone, this is a code of conduct though and not a legal requirement0 -
No benefits, I am diabetic and she is waiting on a hernia op (after having a kidney removed), which I doubt counts for anything. We were planning for another child, but that got put off thanks to the hernia.
This is past debts catching up with us (from when my partner was out of work and not eligible for any benefits either - LONG STORY). I think I could get the money in a lump sum, but it would take a couple of months, how willing would they be to sit on it do you think?0 -
who's name is the debt in?0

HUGE change of circumstance today.
I have managed to get the money to pay this in one go...HOWEVER.
Council say I owe £1247
Bailiff say I owe £1375
I have enough to pay council (but not the bailiff), so shall I just pay them and ignore the bailiff? Or Can they still chase for the remaining £130? I ask this as I have NEVER had a hand delivered letter, nor a bailiff at the door.
I didn't write to them yet as we was going to do it as recorded on Monday. But this changes everything now.0 -

Pay the council and tell them you are disputing the fees added by their agents. The only fee that can be charged (and this is really by the council rather than the bailiff) is the cost of getting the court order, and that should be rolled into the debt the council are asking for...If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
