Wiki is quite often incorrect. Take anything you read on there with a pinch of salt.

    Peer review.

I have to agree with Gromit here.
Actually, I agree with what fwhorn quotes from Wikipedia, which is why I was asking if deanos' cheapest SCART lead contained coax cables or not. There is a step change in performance between non fully wired and fully wired cables, assuming both ends are RGB capable, because they will use RGB instead of composite (regardless of cable length). There is also a step change in performance between plain wires and co-ax cables because of reduced crosstalk and possibly more constant impedance (but the difference increases with the cable length).
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

has anyone found the TH42PX60B plus the desktop stand any cheaper than £999. this price is with empire direct and dixons. dixons is now saying that they have no stock. this site could have worked out the best so far with a discount of 5% equating to £949.05 (if the discounts work anyway). if anyone has found it cheaper could you let me know

    cheers

I got JL in Bristol to price match with this one at Askdirect. John Lewis included free delivery & 5 yr warranty. They really did live up to their promise, well done.

Glasgow John Lewis is selling at £817 today - what they call an undersale i.e. pricematch - although I'm not sure which store they're pricematching against.

Just got off the phone to Glasgow, the tv is now £917 + £195 for the cabinet stand

  • Just been into PC World tonight and they have lots of these in stock for £899.00
I was sorely tempted to order one of these tv's last week after reading this thread, but was a little concerned about all the talk of purple snakes, so decided to bide my time.
    So glad I did!!
Dragged Hubby over to show him the tv (in the flesh) so to speak..as I have been trying to persuade him that we needed one.
Anyway after seeing it, compared to the Philips 42" LCD, the picture is nowhere near as sharp.
In fact, the Panasonic had the lowest resolution of all the televisions on display!!
I was really gutted, as I do like the look of this tv on its stand. The Philips stand is nowhere near as nice.
However, picture quality is much more important.
After speaking to the sales assistant, who advised not to go for plasma..as he told us that LCD was alwasy a sharper picture, I felt quite deflated. Even made him play about with the brightness/contrast/colour of the Panasonic to try and make it as clear as the Philips!! No way!!
Now just need to find out any discount codes..or anywhere that may be selling cheaper. Anyone??

Well I've ordered a 37" Panasonic TH37PX60 with cabinet stand, from Currys not the best price £949 but OH didn't want the 42" and the 37" is disappearing from stock elsewhere. Its being delivered Monday 15th and I will not be looking for purple snakes.
