So due to your gross inappropriate use of the comma are we to assume that you are as thick as Pigshit?;)
Let he who is without sin.....................
Where's my 'gross inappropriate use of the comma'?
You see, I'm struggling with your sentence there! So it just goes to show how grammar and punctuation aren't necessarily exact.
'Use' is a noun in your sentence, which you are qualifying with two adjectives ('gross' and 'inappropriate'). Two adjectives really ought to have a comma between them, e.g. 'a tall, blue vase' not 'a tall blue vase'.
On the other hand, if 'gross' is not an adjective but merely a qualifier for 'inappropriate', i.e. an adverb, then the word you're looking for is 'grossly'.
Therefore, strictly speaking, your sentence should run..
"... gross, inappropriate use of the comma..."
or...
"... grossly inappropriate use of the comma..."
I'm not really into correcting people's grammar on the interweb. I've given my opinion about how people can be judged if their grammar's poor but I find little entertainment in tit-for-tat corrections like these.
But if you want to level 'Let he who is without sin...' at me, check your own grammar first."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I agree 100% with both your posts. I'm not always up to the mark with my grammar/punctuation but I make the best effort I can, depending on the context of my post.
If I'm making a serious comment or indeed writing a business letter, I modify my writing style accordingly.
I don't think its quite so important on a forum but then some people think that means they can write like a 5 yr old.
For the record, I generally don't correct other peoples posts but I certainly think they show themselves in a bad light when they write in this way.
So, fluffnutter, you're not alone in expecting a reasonable standard of writing from people who claim to be adults. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
Punctuation is the difference between:
A man eating chicken
and
A man-eating chicken
From a personal view, I do feel quite strongly about decent punctuation and grammar as it really doe help convey meaning. Having said that, it is annoying when people pick up on typographical errors (as opposed to lax approach) and use it as a stick to beat people with.
What does really annoy me though is people screaming back "I'm dyslexic" as an excuse when it is obvious they aren't from the way they have made errors or the way they are inconsistent. I have friends who are dyslexic and their e-mails are always perfect for spelling and grammar as they check everything. To me, claiming you have dyslexia when you don't to deflect criticism is wrong and it demeans the issue of dyslexia.0 -

Actually he is a little thick if he thinks Murdoch is British. Although parodying people who can't spell time and time again is pretty low. But then again, that's what we expect these days.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
