Hiya Rags! Thanks for popping in
Well I've just fired off another email to my boss because he still hasn't sent me the forms I need for my maternity allowance claim. If they do decide to induce me at my next consultants appointment then I'm about 10 days away from having him and apparently maternity allowance claims take 3-4 weeks to approve! I need to get the claim in asap otherwise we're looking at those 3-4 weeks with a newborn and minimal income!
In theory - considering I have stockpiled some nappies, I'll be breastfeeding and should have plenty of clothes - we shouldn't actually NEED any additional money but I still can't bear the idea of having to wait any length of time with no income...frays my nerves just thinking about it!!
On the plus side, once it is sorted out, I should have nearly the whole of my 39 weeks allowance to take with the baby - meaning I don't have to go back to work until the middle of June
I'm actually very glad that I just do a basic, part time job to be honest. If I'd been earning a full time wage and having to rely on statutory maternity pay, I'd have been back at work after the first six weeks because there would be no way I could afford to take any longer. Because I earn such a small amount, going onto maternity allowance represents an effective £300+ payrise to us (from SSP anyway) so we can afford for me to take my full allowance! I certainly feel very lucky to be in this position.
Anyway, I need to get to school and collect DS so will catch up with you all laterxx

I thought he was attempting to make an entrance yesterday afternoon! Lots of regular contractions, but no baby yet!
If I can hang on until Thursday, I'll have a carpet and furniture in the living room :rotfl:
Anyway, todays plan is more cleaning with occasional bursts of biscuit munching0 -

Just had an email back from boss to say DH can pick my forms up tonight so I can post off my claim form tomorrow! Thank goodness for that! I'm positive I'm eligible for it, but it will still be a nervous wait until the claim is approved!0 -
Great thats a win win winnie!!Trying to shift that debt!0

MA claim posted - fingers crossed for a quick and positive response!
DS's dietician appointment sorted too, they're happy with him so he doesn't have to go back again unless we need to. He's grown 3 inches since his diagnosis and because of that they don't need him to have the biopsy or be tested for Crohns or colitis (sp?) which is a huge relief. I'm just so pleased we're on the right track!
All signs of labour have now stopped completely, but I'm consoling myself with more biscuits and the thought that he'll definitely be here in the next 10 days. I was in two minds about agreeing to induction next week but the more I think about it, the more I think it's a good idea. Not just for relief of the hip/back pain but from an organisational perspective!
DH got up at 5.30am this morning to put a second coat of paint on the living room which is looking really good. We made a good choice going for a white shade, it's really opened the room up! I think the carpet will be laid this evening - we are so close to having a completed house!!
I've had to dip into our slush fund today for diesel, hospital parking, a few groceries and some stuff DH needs to finish the living room so I owe that £40 when the MA comes through. Bit cross about it, but needs must and it's there for if we need anything so I'm trying not to beat myself up about it too much.
DH found another old iPhone at work so I need to get that sorted out and send off to a recycler. Not sure whether I'll use Asda again, I'm still waiting for the cash from the last one I sent in. Good job the money is going straight to the savings account and we don't need it for something really!
Trying to relax today, am completely exhausted for some reason and I'm aching from head to toe. Midwife at 9am tomorrow morning and I think DH is coming with me because she wants to do a birth plan...I don't see the point personally - he's in there and he needs to come out and thats about the extent of it!
Just going to make a cheese and bacon pasta bake thingy for tea and then I'm hitting the sofa and staying there for the day! So tired!0 -
