Arrrgghhh so angry, for those who say just get a job stacking shelves

I didn't think my post would generate so much interest!!
Bit of an update though, for those who have posted that there are jobs out there and people should just take what they can, well I have done that myself, I know the situation.
I am working for a small company processing orders it's basically min wage and part time. Last week an employee handed in her notice so I have been getting training to do her job.
To be honest I don't enjoy the job at all, it's not what I want to be doing. I am trying my hardest however and will do my best, as it's part time at least I know I am not there 5 days a week 8 hours a day, but it may become more hours once this woman has left.
It is helping to pay the bills, it is a regular income and the people are nice. I have had to suppress my sadness at not being able to find a job in my 'normal' career, graphic design/artworking. I hope that maybe I will be able to get back to that line of work maybe next year if things start to pick up but as others have posted on here with technology and software moving on at such a rate it may never happen.
Although I don't enjoy the job I am doing I also have to factor in travel, working round school hours and school holidays as I have young kids and am a single mum. This current job allows for the above and is fairly local to me so I am not having to pay a lot in petrol. I live in a semi-rural part of Herts and there's a bus once an hour and it doesn't go to where I work so I still have to use my car. I would consider cycling but the lanes are very dangerous rat runs and I would like to live a bit longer!
So I have been through the angst of trying to find a job, the 'climbing up the walls' feeling when spending day after day at home, not wanting to go out as I don't want to have to spend any money, searching for jobs day in day out, tailoring my CV to meet job descriptions and expectations.
I can't tell a 17 year old what to do, I know she should keep looking and not give up, she doesn't drive and is in a similar area to me with limited transport so for those of you who have suggested she look in a wider area it's not always that easy.0 -
Can't be a***d to read through the whole thread but catch the drift from the OP's opening post.
These people who say just get a job stacking shelves need to get off which ever planet they are on and come down to planet earth.
A recent Tesco's express that opened in my area had 350 applicants for 18 positions (most of them part-time).
Just get real these people.:mad:0
