I'm doing the same. Hate my job and have done so for over a year now. I'm having no luck job finding though, I think in my case I'm overqualified (masters) for normal temp jobs. Hmmm0

Surely you don't have to tell employers about your masters though, if you think it will hold you back?
I guess it's not completely honest, but it's not as if you're lying about having a masters when you don't.
Can't you just tailor your CV to certain jobs and leave out that bit if need be?0 -
Before you make any rash decision, do stand back and take stock is it really work that stressing you out or just life in general at the moment. i thought my job was causing to much stress in my life and changed directions and still i have to drag myself thru the door each day to work, but looking at the bigger picture it's not all works fault like a lot of other people life is just more stressful at the moment.
You say you prefer doing something creative why not maybe think of splitting the differance see if job share is an option at work and do a bit of freelance on the side see where it takes you. that way your not leaving yourself open to even more stress due to lack of funds, and if it takes off then you have the great pleasure of the flexiblity of working for yourself then for others.0 -

thats eaxctly what I have been doing. Its really a good exercise and has made me realise I do have a lot of transferrable skills away from my speciality which I am now pushing to the for. Two weeks until I stop being paid so am applying for every and anything

Well all is not lost, I have an interview tomorrow! Finish my place next week, so might be tight if they offer it. Its only part time and I'll end up on about 50% of my previous wages, but its a start0

Good on you tryfan! Fingers crossed for you. How do you feel about leaving your job?
I also have a telephone interview for some temp work tomorrow which may last me up to the end of October.
I have booked a month to study Spanish in Salamanca in November!
Things are scary and exciting for me! :j

well they offered it to me today and I bit their hand off, hopefully in a non desperate sounding manner!
moomin I feel fantastic about leaving my current job, sleeping better, happier allround and more energetic. good luck with the spanish, opens so many doors in latin america as well as europe :T0 -
Anamish, why are you so against claiming benefits ?. Are you so stupid as to not realize that your stamp is no longer being paid. This in turn could lead to a short-fall in your state pension.
You earned money and paid taxes, you are entitled to claim benefits. Would you rather you and your little girl end-up homeless just because you are 'to proud' to go and sign-on.
When I got laid-off, the first thing I did upon leaving the factory was to go home and phone the Jobcentre.
I agree with this.
Despite there being a lot negativity towards people on benefits, I have absolutely no problem with people who require benefits to get by/survive, especially people who try their best to secure work so they can get off benefits. Amanish, you paid into the system. I do not see a problem in letting the system help you in your time of need. Benefits are in my opinion meant as a fall back position for those down on their luck.
My problem lies with people who are fully able to work but choose to rely on benefits out of laziness.0 -

Ah excellent! Well done! When do you start? :j
I am so glad for you! I have my first interview lined up tomorrow for a part-time telephone researcher job - very low paid but will keep me going for a bit!Like you I am also feeling happier and sleeping better. I've booked onto a TEFL course this weekend so I will try to pass it even though I have a bit of a phobia of public speaking! No pain no gain!?
Yes very excited about the Spanish courses - may extend my stay providing I am having a good time out thereI just didn't want to spend all my money at once. Hopefully the temp work will become more plentiful and I can keep saving.
