I'm not sure if I'm due any tax and was wondering if you fine people could help me. Here's my situation.
I was a student until June and was doing a part time job from march, thats fine
Then I got a full time job (that used my tax code allowance) but kept my part time job (which went to BR), fair enough.
However in the last 6-7 weeks my full time job was put down to part time but was still more hours than the part time job I already had so I didnt change anything code wise. In the last month though I did quite a bit of overtime in my 'orginal' part time job(nearly double the hours of my other job) but as my contracted hours were less than the other job I never changed anything, so technically this months pay from the part time job will be my main income and will be taxed BR. Do I have a case at all?

moira - sack your reclaim company - they are not doing their job. You will get more help from people on here to do it yourself.
gordy - it would be easier if you could give us some figures of earnings from all these jobs.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -

With all the changes I don't think you are going to know until the end of the tax year if you are due any rebate or not.
How much do you earn in the job which has the tax code? If it's more than £116pw you are using up all your tax free allowances and the job taxed at BR will be correct. If it's less then you may be due a rebate.0 -

Hi all
I am a student, but whilst at Uni in Hertfordshire I had a sandwich (placement) year where I worked full time in London for my 3rd year of Uni.
Throughout the whole of Uni I was also being paid each month by my parent's business, as I was doing admin work for them remotely.
I have now moved back to Dorset (where I was born and where my parent's business is), and I think I have probably paid too much tax over my 4 years at Uni.
Which tax office should I apply to for a possible refund? The Dorset one, or the office which serves London?
Thanks.0 -

You'd need to contact the tax office that holds your records, which should be the same one that deals with your current or latest employer.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0 -
Thanks Hoddie
I am still employed in both London and Dorset (I work bank shifts for the ambulance service in London and still technically work for my parents in Dorset), so not sure which office to choose...
I'm tempted to choose the Dorset one as they will probably be quieter than the London one, and I'm sure they can liaise with London if needs be.0 -

Uni, you send your claim to the tax office which has its reference on your P45 - you can look up the address at www.hmrc.gov.uk. If you send it to the wrong one, there will be a further delay while they work their way down to it and then send it on, only for it to sit in another pile.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
