I don't believe that ANY NOTW reader agrees.

Not one, not one single sad git would support them in their actions who is not of sound mind.

Martin, I don't buy your arguments. You are associating with crime.

The decision is not difficult in the least. It is not a choice of being published in NOTW or being an unpublished nobody. It is a choice of being published and read in respectable media or being published and hopefully ignored in NOTW.

You should not be putting people who do want to read you into the position of needing buy NOTW against their consciences. You are propping up a corrupt organisation. If people need your column they will follow you to a new home.

Hopefully, you will get enough comments here to show to the NOTW editor and stop your column without a contractual comeback. But I would have preferred you just to make your own decision rather than tout the question for predictable popular support.

Lurked here for years, got the book, used the comparision sites and I just did something I never do on a forum - I registered. And the reason why to quote the post below.

Yes the world is not a perfect place and this kind of thing will no doubt go on but you damage your reputation and causes by being associated with this organisation. Martin, re-read the quoted post and think HARD where YOU stand on this.

This sprang to mind as I was reading your blog..

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the communists
and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me -
and by then there was no one left to speak out for me.

    The German anti-Nazi activist,
    Pastor Martin Niemöller

This maybe unjust of me Martin because I think you do wonderful work ( and I hear what you say about reaching people) but I have always abhorred tabloid journalism.... so I'm surprised you have ever worked for them.. I'm voting with head and heart on this one as I don't see evidence in the paper ( which I looked through at the weekend) that they are any less scurriless than they always have been.

I am reposting this as it's important. It's too easy to not take a stand.

Unlike some other posters, though, I do think you are right to discuss the issue before making your decision.

Do you really think that NOTW has done nothing similar since then ? Coulson / Brookes knew exactly what was happening on their watch, do you really think they are going to put their hands up and say "fair cop guv". Murdoch is not stupid and takes a very keen interest in all his organisations, he would have known the methods used in obtaining these high profile stories and will be carefully engineering a plan to distance himself. All their hands are soiled and they are not to be trusted.

...and twisting himself in knots and dancing on the head of a pin to try to justify taking the Murdoch shilling and continuing to do so even with the constant stream of ever-more horrific revelations about the practices at the NOW and News Int generally. Well done, Mr Money Saving Expert. No amount of crusading will take away the stain from you now. Money is all and morality counts for nothing.

Did you mean Moral Saving Expert?

I give Martin more credit than that. He will wake up in the morning with a changed mind on the matter. He is quite sensible but quite slow at his calls.

I wouldn't expect anyone on MSE to make an important decision without thinking it through, Martin included. It is possible that if he leaves it too long the NOTW may dump him first, especially now he has a blog on the subject.
