Just curious why didn't any of you use the genius bar. Surely a safer route, I have used the genius bar a few times and they have been exceptional.

From what i have heard they will charge us up to £100 for a repair, it only cost £166 new.......
  • I sent my nano for a repair in November, I chased them up and said I was concerned at where they a proper company and they promised that there was just a delay, I eventually got my nano back and it worked. However 3 months on and its broken again. I have tried to chase them up to get them to repair it again for free but going by these comments I am lucky to have got it back the first time around.
I am fed up of the scam companies on the internet, I used Simply electronics and christmas for an Ipad and ended up with simular problems with them. nightmare,

It's a mixed bag though, because all companies start somewhere.

My friend has just started offering iPhone and iPod screen replacement and mainly marketed the service through eBay. I was shocked and amazed at the number of people who will just send their phone to a stranger in the post.

Luckily I know he's far from a scam artist, but it's mad how many people will just 'trust' someone so easily with such an expensive item.
  • I saw this forum after sending my iphone and my sons old Nano. Immediately i called them to ask about this and they comforted me. They said they had received the items that day and indicated i would be given a call later that day with a quote for both.

Like they promised i received a call with a price for both. My iphone needed a new Front Glass and USB which was priced at 75pound, my sons ipod nano needed a new battery which was 29.95. I was still worried as they were for asking for card details, but i needed my phone back.

I paid and i was promised the items return in the next days post which meant a very good 2 day turnaround.

I did as promised receive the items back and thus far have had no more problems.

I have since recommended these to my friend who have a damaged ipod touch.

What ever problems these had i think they have gone, thanks very Cheapestukipodrepairs.com

  • Hi All

Just to let you know, I returned my ipod to them on Monday after speaking to Simon and he contacted me today to say that they had repaired it even though it was out of Warrenty

They have taken over the company from Tony Ward and are trying now to repair the damage that he has created by the bad service he offered. I am really pleased with the responce I have got from Simon as I thought that I would have to get a new ipod

    thanks Simon
  • I have had the unfortunate displeasure of using this company also - address in WILMSLOW, dealt with Simon and David, here is the email I sent them after they totally BODGED my 9 yr old sons iPad 2 (smashed screen), but looking at all the other posts it seems I was lucky to get the iPad back at least, I ended up losing my temper when trying to explain the bodged repair and threatened them over the phone.....heres the mail I sent today:-

Hello Again (still unsure who I am communicating with....ridiculous I know?)

Again I will re-list the points I made earlier from the original email regarding your totally substandard service/repair:-

    1. Screen scratched.......
    2. Airbubbles underneath the screen......due to your technicians leaving the protective plastic screen on the UNDERSIDE of the glass, see photo.
    3. Home Button not working (working perfectly well before)........
    4. Gap between the glass and the bottom edge of the iPad (moves when you touch the screen).........glass not properly seated.
    5. Tool Marks between the glass and the aluminium bezel........

    and additionally:-
    6. The 4 retaining screws in the LCD panel were missing - I would like those returned please.
    7. Home button connections not lined up and squint, causing loss of Home button functionality - fairly important on an iPad!

They are just from the repair. Some more information.
On Tuesday 13th March I spoke to Simon initially, he convinced me on the phone I was using the best company on the market and stated that my iPad would be repaired to 'as new' condition - UNTRUE.
On Wed he left a message at approx 1900hrs to say that he had received the iPad - TRUE.
On Thursday he took payment for the repair, originally stated on the phone that the price would be £99.95 inc vat and next day return delivery - FALSE, my account has actually been debited £109.95, he then stated I would receive the iPad in the post on Friday before 1300hrs - FALSE, I contacted him on Friday night and he said he would return my call with a tracking number - FALSE - THIS NEVER HAPPENED, HE NEVER REPLIED AS PROMISED!
I received the iPad at 1000hrs on Tuesday 20th March - TRUE
The iPad repair was a disgrace - TRUE.
As stated in earlier emails I will admit to losing my temper, due to the fact that you weren't allowing me the time to explain the defects from the repair and were talking over me, also not allowing me to acquire a contact name from your company (so far only Simon and David) very unprofessional.
For the loss of my temper I apologise, as I did yesterday evening when I returned another call to Simon.

This is the last time I will ask for any sort of refund or compensation then I'm afraid its time to start trawling the Forums and contact Rogue Traders........
Ive tried to be respectful and am willing to try and start again to make it easier for all concerned. However I will not return the machine to yourselves. I honestly just do not trust you again.

I have a new replacement iPad ordered with Apple and I also have ordered a new digitizer (£32) and will carry out the repair on the damaged one myself, Ive already stripped and rebuilt (twice) the one that you 'bodged'. I can't understand how you got it so wrong, its a very simple procedure.

    Regards

I thought Apple was supposed to be so reliable compared to other products like Windows or any other personal computer other than Apple themselves. Why would you ever need to get an ipod fixed? Amazes me how people have forgotten the very principles by which Jobs sold Apple products, but which are now an exact mirror image of that which they originally opposed. Pathetic really. Sorry. I know it doesn't add anything useful (other than the fact that if you didn't know this about Apple you need to read into their history), but I couldn't resist a little dig. Microsoft will be back on top, mark my words....

Fix them yourself..it really is very easy...use you tube to show you how..i fixed all of mine with new battery's and screens.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    Everyone

Please guys do not listen to or be taken in by Simon Davies, He repaired my sons iPad with a scratched screen and hadn't even noticed that he left the protective screenguard on the INSIDE of the new glass. Please read my list of complaints again, each point is valid and 100% true.

It's true I did abuse him on the phone but only because he wasn't helpful and constantly talked over me, his colleague even blamed my 9 yr old son by saying he "shouldn't have smashed the screen in the first place"!!! UNBELIEVABLE.

I wouldn't send anything back to them, hence the fact I asked for a refund.

I ended up buying a new screen for £32 and done the job myself, it is now perfect.

I will make it my mission to let people know what they are getting themselves in for by dealing with this company. (Simon I said I would and that's what I intend to do unless you sort out my refund).

Cheapest uk ipod repairs are an absolute disgrace.
