Cheapest UK iPod Repairs, Wilmslow - WARNING

Options
I found this outfit via Google.

Their website is very professional looking so I sent my mal-functioning iPod off for assessment. A Tony Ward phoned me back and gave me a quote. I agreed and gave him my credit card details. On 9th May the sum of £86.94 was taken.

Since then all I've had is a couple of e-mails saying sorry for the delay blah blah blah. I've heard nothing since 10th June so today I've sent a letter by recorded delivery threatening Trading Standards, etc.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone else who has had dealings with him.

Yes. I either got no reply or, today, a message saying that their inbox is full.

    I think you've been had.

The Wilmslow address appears to be just a mail box.

The address on the Domain Registration, which should match the address on the website, is actually in Sydney, Australia.

    Try writing to Ward there.

A fair few scams out there.

I was a bit dubious about sending my iPod off for a new battery last year, but was cheaper than a new iPod. Took my chances with a company based just outside Brighton, and I had it back all sorted out within 72 hours.

Sorry to hear this has happened to you, best advice is to maybe research these places in future best you can.

Thanks Coopdivi. I wish I'd checked such things earlier. Lesson learnt.

A rather surprising development. Following the above correspondence, I raised a dispute with Mastercard over the payment I had made to this company and they agreed to investigate. Then last week I had a call from a woman saying that she has taken over the business and that she wanted to send me a new 5th generation iPod in settlement. OK I said.

So it has arrived, but with a note saying that the money has been returned to me so would I please send a cheque payable to "Mr Ward", the name of the original proprietor! I've phoned Mastercard, who tell me that the money has not been withdrawn from the company's account.

So I have now left a message on the company's phone telling them thanks for the new iPod, they won't be getting any more money and that as far as I am concerned the matter is now closed.
  • I sent my iPod 'Touch to Cheapest UK iPod Repairs inWilmslow for repair and I got an email from them on 10 July saying it had been received, inspected and repaired. I was asked to pay £49.95 by BACS transfer for the repair and return postage costs. I paid using my RBS Debit Card on 15 July. On 18 July, I received an email saying my iPod would be shipped out to me asap. When a package did arrive, it contained a well used iPod Classic and not my iPod Touch! I've emailed Cheapest UK iPod Repairs twice to inform them of their mistake and asking them to return my iPod to me, and I've also phoned the number on their website on numerous occasions. I have had no reply to my emails and I cannot EVER get anyone to answer the phone. Can anyone advise me as to what I should do now? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
  • I've been had by these people as well. i sent an iPod 4 for repair on 21st July, and was phoned by a 'Karen' on 28th July saying my repair would cost £102. She said they had a 'problem' with accepting card payments, and could I send a cheque, payable to Tony Ward. I received an email a few minutes later confirming the arrangement. Since then, nothing. The phone number, 01625 470281 is never answered, and a recorded voice says the mail box is full. They don't answer emails, and have ignored two recorded letters sent.

I contacted the Trading Standards national number, and they say I have to take action against them in the court, though whether this is worthwhile, as the Cheshire address is just an accommodation address, I don't know. But as it stands, I've lost a iPod worth £240 plus the £102.

Has anyone else had recent contact, or can add anything?

Sent my ipod touch off in February to be mended, I had to chase it then. Month later it came back with a new screen, as I had dropped it, however the new screen didn't fit flush, the button at the bottom to get to other screens didn't work properly, and it no only played in one speaker on docking station. Had trouble getting back in touch, then at their invitation, I stupidly stupidly sent it back in March, and I have tried phoning and issued 11 emails. I did get an email back a month ago from a Karen but since then no contact dispite 11 emails, and no option to leave a message.

I think I may have to give up, as it so draining to be worried about this. I have even just said, send it back refund my money and we will call it quits, but still nothing. It is nothing short of criminal.

Any advice anyone? I so didn't want to google Cheapest Ipod repairs problems because I always hoped it would come back with what I had paid for to be done correctly, but I am starting to think I have been totally screwed over
