Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

  • I am thinking of getting myself a top of the range ice cream maker in spring but I am dithering a bit. Making ice cream from known ingredients appeals to me. Anyone got one that churns by itself?

My SIL was given one for Christmas that just attaches to her Kenwood Chef... she says it works really well, though I haven't sampled the delights just yet... sadly!

My flat is very... cosy and compact, so I couldn't have a normal sized diishwasher, I had to get a counter top one. But when I measured the distance from the counter top to the overhead cupboards there wasn't enough space... my dad suggested I buy another flat!

In the end I just took the decorative trim off the bottom of the cupboards.

Well I would say my Kenwood Chef but I'm not sure that counts as non-essential. I love it an unhealthy amount.

If I can't count that, I'd choose my breadmaker which is one of the most-used gadgets in my kitchen.

I love threads about kitchen gadgets :rotfl:

mine has to be my slow cooker, if i can class that as non-essential, food tastes great from it and it saves money, so nice too when i come home after school runs and just have to dish up, instead of prepping and cooking.

I love my gadgets: Breadmaker (use every day), electric steamer (use at least twice a week) and slow cooker (use at least 3 times a week in winter)

And dishwasher counts as essential in this house!
  • I LOVE my juicer and smoothie maker :D
My juicer is one of the whole fruit ones, so to get fresh apple juice you just pop an apple in and press on, just as easy as opening a carton and a lot tastier too. Also better cuz you can just whizz up as much as you want to drink rather than buying a big carton which you won't finish. I think it cost £35ish and we got it a week ago and have already upped our juice intake considerably :j
