  • I am about to move to Canada and I soooooooo want a canner. Theyre about half the price there to here. My OH thinks I am mad, he views my OS exploits as some kind of hobby to be indulged I think. He has no idea what is about to happen to his life LOL. When I move I will also be a SAHM for a few months, I fear this may unleash even more OS in me mwahahahahaha!

What kitchen gadgets do you have that you could not live without???

I love my breadmaker, it is made by A-team and is easilly 10 years old, i inherited it from my mum. I am thinking about upgrading to a panasonic breadmaker tho.

I would love a kenwood Chef. My mum has an old one from I guess the mid 70's and she still uses it 2-3 times a week.

So come on what do you Want and what could you not live without???

We use out Argos Value £7.50 coffee maker the most! LOL
Also kettle and electric frying pan! At the mo we dont have anything else in the kitchen..

I would love to have a microwave with grill, and one of them halogen ovens, frying everything is just no fun, especially boiling rice in the frying pan is weird...LOL

Also would love a milk frother ( we are coffee junkies) and a food processor.

Hopefully next month to get a microwave....

I have just seen on qvc, a cooks essentials pressure cooker that is also a slow cooker and it has a delay timer etc etc. I wish I hadn`t seen it because my old pressure cooker will last years yet, as will my slow cooker and never mind the space I would save plus the sheer convenience. Got to get it out of my head!!!! somehow help

edit: that was quick. I weaned myself off by reading the reviews on the qvc US site. Better the devil you know

My very best gadget is a green life juicer that I have had (and use) for 15 years. It is so brilliant and sturdy at getting every bit of juice out of everything but paricularly greens, like broccolli stalks. The veg juices are great at keeping the energy going. Cleaning is fine as I just plop all the bits into a bowl of cold water, give a quick scrub and then they all go into hot soapy water. I just run a jug of water around the working end of the machine, wipe with a kitchen roll and thats it

Later I will make juice from some cabbage, several carrots and some apple. It will look horrible but will taste good (acquired taste though) and I will `hopefully` bounce through the rest of the day in spite of the dreary rain

I have a "Gourmet Blender" like this one Gourmet blender and wouldn't be without it - it is quicker and less messy for mashing potatoes than a ricer, does a fab job, no lumps at all plus it is easy to clean. I also use it for swede and other veg.

I use it to blend butter and flour for pastry and other things like chopping up eggs for egg mayo sandwiches. My pastry has improved no end since having it.

I got it on clearence for about £4.00 and I would say I use it more than anything, even my beloved Kenwood Chef!

ooohhh the talk about canners reminded me that I got this one in a sale here in a German supermarket last year for €40

    http://www.severin.com/products/cooking/preserving-boiler/ea-3649_1

As yet it hasn't been used as I don't want to be dragging jars of allsorts around with us -but as soon as we get back to the UK it will get put to use ;) -I have my eye on one of the pressure canners -but can't see them anywhere but the USA ..
At the same time I got my mum one of the tefal electric jam makers (in lakeland)-I think it was not quite €35 :T

oohh My electric mincer/sausage maker is another brilliant thing :T it has more than earnt its keep....
