Most essential kitchen gadget is
a woman that can cook. Unfortunately they are extremely rare.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
My slow cooker, hand blender and potato ricer. Wouldn't be without any of them.
I like the look of that herb roller.0 -
Hmm well
Kettle (plus a stove top one and stove top percolator)
Toaster
Juicer (must use this more)
Hand held stick blender
Hand held mixer/whisk
Stove top waffle iron
Spong Hand coffee/spice grinder (absolutly bliss)
Spong hand mincer (not quite got the hang of this yet...)
Not sure what else I would like/use - a proper jam pan, mandolin and wok would be nice, thought about an ice cream maker and proper expresso machine, but they would get no use so will propably scour eBay and the like for more Old fashioned gadgets as love them and they dont use any electrickery. (dont have a microwave/breadmaker(prefer the kneading bit myself)).0 -

I find the big electrical items get used far less than the small non electrical items.
I live my nicer dicer & my mandoline (from the ideal home).
I use my steamer & food processor a fair bit.
I don't have a George Forman, I have a "Tefal fit'n'clean", which I think is better, same idea, but the elements rip out (like removing a plug) & the whole thing goes in the dishwasher:D
I love the Oxo good grips range, I try & buy their hand tools.
I use my hand mixer for mash;)
Don't use a blender, it changes the consistancy & makes it funny:eek:
I use my simple egg slicer for chopped egg in salads.
I like to buy really good quality kitchen ware, its a pleasure to use & lasts forever.
I like my Le Cruset casserole pot & my Circulon pots & pans (want to buy the wok next).
I rarely use my Tassimo:mad:0 -
I wouldn't want to be without my halogen oven. It sits on the worktop and gets used more than anything else. There's rarely a day goes by without it being used.
Another one of my favourites that I really wouldn't want to part with is my Kenwood Chef. I probably only use it once a week on average, but it makes such light work of mixing pastry/cakes.
Couple of very close seconds are the Bamix and a v-slicer (mandoline). They don't get used daily either, but again, they make such light work of everything:)0 -
I worked it out at about 42p a loaf using Tesco own brand flour and yeast, although I read in another thread you can get the yeast cheaper in health food shops and from Lakeland.
I was paying around 65-70p for Kingsmill/Hovis bread as I don't like the value bread, so it's saving me money.
It's a Morphy Richards machine, but I've no idea how much it cost as it was a present.
I'm scared of pressure cookers too. They remind me of dinners at my ex-MIL's where she would blast the life out of everything in the pressure cooker, so you got a plate of pale, tasteless mush instead of vegetables
Shows how the price of bread has shot up in the last 4 years :eek:Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
