Well the last time I called the police for something that turned out not to be criminal I was still issued a crime ref number which was the name number assigned to the log.
Either way its irrelevant as the OP will still get a ref number from the police to use for contacting the others insurers if he can obtain the evidence needed.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

No you got a log reference number which is different to a crime number.
It it's not recorded as a crime you'll find it may have been recorded as a non-stop rtc and therefore will be relevant to the OP as their vehicle has been recoreded as being involved in a collision making this an insurance matter would it not?0 -

At worst you'll get an "incident number" which is usually today's date and then a number. I've had no problem giving this to the insurance when they ask for a crime reference number0
