  • Are you saying you agree buyers shouldn't have great expectations of sellers on ebay, and it surprised the big sellers when they did?

No I'm saying perhaps those expectations are OTT, you buy from a branded retailer site and accept what is offered. If Argos say an item will be delivered in 28 days you don't order and then phone up to complain it didn't come by the weekend, and if you did we all know what the answer would be. Yet on eBay with certain customers if you don't meet their expectations despite them not being offered they hit you with poor feedback.

If buyer protection wasn't there I wouldn't use ebay, it looks like you agree?

Buyer protection is excellent but having spent a lot of money on eBay I've never had to use it, perhaps you aren't very good at picking which sellers to buy from if you reply on it to shop on eBay?

What percentage of sellers do you think are the rogue ones that need to be avoided?
I doubt it's too many of them.
    Maybe I'm more trusting.

I'm not sure if I said there were lots rouge sellers? In fact you seemed to imply this by saying without protection you wouldn't shop there.

  • I cannot believe that no one has come up with something better than Ebay.

It cost me £44 to sell an item a few weeks ago. Their sellers fee's are outrageous!

It can be a great place to buy, but often enough I see used items sell for more than brand new items elsewhere on the internet when only searching for a couple of minutes.

There needs to be a simple, cheaper online solution for selling and until there is Ebay isn't going to change it's ways!

    End of rant !

There have been alternatives but most closed shop and referred their users to ebay. Your own post suggests exactly why it is still going- if a seller can still sell stuff on ebay at the same price as a buyer could buy elsewhere then they are obviously doing something right. The time for ebay to worry is when nothing sells as that is when sellers lose faith.

You try getting worldwide exposure to the same amount of customers any cheaper.

Ebay really is a joke with their scoring policy. All buyers are doing is scoring the Post Office, Yes their postage costs are high!!!!!!! Sometimes they take a long time too!!!!!!!!

Any buyer can leave any score and if they dont like the postage costs why bid in the first place!!!!!!!!

Ebay just want to get their grubby hands on more of the money. Ie Free postage means more for the item & more commission for them!!!!!!

Soon their will be no sellers only the ones that have given in to them and do free postage!!!!
