Oh stop feeding the troll, for heaven's sake.

No one is that dumb. If you really can't watch the news and understand that everyone is saying the NoTW hacked the voicemails of servicemen's families because it is true, and not because every media outlet is part of a left-wing conspiracy against the NoTW, then you really shouldn't be allowed out on your own.

You might meet Diana and Elvis riding Shergar though.

Sorry but when it comes to their jobs virtually all journalists and reporters for major newspapers and magazines are amoral at best and I doubt you were any different. What happened at NOTW is common practice across the media (television included) and much more serious crimes are committed every day; everyone knows what's going on so being in the industry yourself you should know what I'm talking about. If it were up to me I would be quite happy to see every paparazzi photographer and journalist put in prison.

"Reasonable expectation of privacy"... Only the ignorant and journalists have any objection to that idea being put into law. I don't think even 1 in 100 journalists are in favor of it.

I do not appreciate being described as amoral by a complete stranger who doesn't know me, or anything about me, or indeed anything of what I did as a journalist.

I'm quite happy to accept that there are bad and amoral journalists out there but thats a minority.

I take it you're happy to buy and read newspapers, magazines, read the news online and on TV and yet you treat the people who bring this news to you, the news you happily read, with utter disregard.

I'm not saying they are all saints but tarring them all with the same brush is ridiculous at best and ignorant at worst.

Then you obviously don't work for The Independent where re-hashing press releases is how they fill the paper.

    Nope didn't, you're right.

Private Eye recently had a story about a Trinity Mirror executive who was told his services were no longer required, but rapidly got his employers to change their mind when he threatened to spill the beans about what their journalists had been up to. Allegedly that is, of course.

We also have the results of Operation Motorman, an enquiry into the activities of another PI named Steve Whittamore dating back to 2003, where Whitmore was involved in blagging confidential information on selected targets on behalf of newspapers. Top of the list for Whitmore's employers was the Daily Mail, closely followed by the Sunday People and the Daily Mirror. Even The Observer was named and shamed.

So perhaps our stupid boy isn't so stupid.

Perhaps but what some people don't seem to understand is that for every national level tabloid hack, there are thousands of grassroots hacks in local an dregional papers working their a**es off everyday, who get their stories by good honest contacts and research!

I don't know - the mainstream media has regularly taken that approach when describing other groups of people.

Now you know what it feels like. Not nice, is it?
