How far do you go with this? if you boycott all News Corporation products then you have got to include The Times, NOTW,The Sun, Sky etc, all well and good until you look at the bigger picture, the more damage that is done to sky then the less money it costs Murdoch to buy up the shares.
I stopped reading The Sun after hillsborough and will now cease buying The NOTW after this scandal but im keeping my Sky tv.
Just because they all come under the same umbrella is not a reason to boycott them all.

And another thing, do we now boycott this site because Martin Lewis has a column in the NOTW?

Tirns out that Martin has his column with the paper, and to be honest who would be surprised? He likes to get himself on every tv and radio station going. Anyway, he's come to the difficult conclusion thst he'll keep his column in the paper after all. Maybe you could try boycotting this forum to help him out.

No to all the above. My life feels richer for it :)

As for 'innocent until proven guilty' - well on a balance of probabilities basis (like a civil court), the case against them is already somewhat stronger than the one for. They don't seem to have denied it, just the delightful Rebekah Wade pretending she knows nothing about what her newspaper did (making her either a terrible manager or terrible liar - and she doesn't seem to be terrible manager). A lack of outright denial is pretty damning.

And of course being a cabal, all the NI products will share info, so boycot the lot. If you really care about football, remember these guys are the reason it costs you money to watch what was always free to air before they locked it away and held it to ransom. The rest of their TV is just imports anyway, pretty much, not worth any money to see another load of US telly still with adverts plus costing more than the license fee.

Its not a 'civil case' though - this is a criminal case - so everything you say is worthless. Probabilities dont come into it - you need facts before you can prosecute AND given the hype about this can anyone now get a fair trial if they are taken to court ? Due to the blanket media coverage just about everyone in the country now thinks they are guilty so how will you ever find a Jury that has a neutral thought on it?

I care about football enough to go watch it live at the ground - i dont have Sky at home either so I couldnt care less.

Yep, but I'm not the CPS, and any of the individuals involved could follow a civil case should they choose.

Journalists are nicknamed reptiles. And with good reason.

Ah. I wasn't going to get involved in this thread, just lurk a little. But this I have to respond to.

This is a gross over-generalisation and completely unfair. I'll lay my cards on the table now and say that years ago I was in fact a journalist for a number of years. Not with the NOTW or anything like that, just a few local papers.

The majority of journalists in the country just do their job through good-old fashioned hard work.

If these allegations are proved correct then of course it's abhorrent but please don't lump all journos under the same rock.

Of course, it's worth remembering that these 'reptilian' journalists keep our great and good on their toes - how about MP's expenses? If it wasn't for a journalist, you'd never have known. And if the local council did something silly like stick bollards across your driveway, chances are you'd be on the phone to the local paper pretty sharpish - or at least phoning the council threatening to.

Now before you come at me with your pitchforks and burning torches, read what I have just said carefully. If the allegations are true, they are shocking and disgusting. I am as aghast and disgusted as all of you. I'm not condoning that kind of behaviour.

Just don't tar all journalists with the same brush.
