Made up for you pulliptears. It's so worrying when they're not well but brilliant news when you know they are going to be ok.0

Had a bit of a panic again last night as the blood seemed to have increased again, but this mornings wee was fine so I'll keep an eye on him again now. He's still waggy and happy so I'm not overly worried (though the increased wagginess could be to do with the cheese I'm hiding his tablets in!!)

Yes, she said it could get worse before it got better. Todays wee's have all been good so I'm hoping we are on the up. She said if he seemed like he was struggling to wee, or not weeing at all bring him back but he's fine on both those counts.
I still can't help thinking this is all part of a bigger problem, I just posted another thread about his skin issues. Can't help thinking it's all linked somehow.0 -
Being Hypothyroid can make animals more susceptible to infections and also affect their skin and coat. That could be a possibility. That OR Cushings disease, but it doesn't sound like he has all the signs for that. Both (along with Diabetes) can make them more susceptible to infections etc.0

Pleased to report he is weeing normally and there appears to be a big improvement in his coat.
Funnily enough I bumped into a lady whilst out at the weekend who had a Scottie the same age. We were chatting away and I was telling her the problems we had been having with Jack and how he seemed to be 'depressed' all of a sudden. She told me that she experienced exactly the same thing with hers last year and it turned out to be his thyroid so to hear you say the same thing is interesting.
He's back in on Thursday morning and I intended to ask the vet for thyroid checks. She did say once he was feeling a little better from the infection she would start investigating thoroughly.
I'll update when I know more.0 -
Well, this is still ongoing. This mornings wee, although nice and yellow, still contained blood and high glucose levels according to the vet. His temperature is still high and to be honest he still seems completely fed up.
Skin tests are back and he's been cleared for mites etc. I now have a special shampoo I need to bathe him in every two days. He's on stronger antibiotics, had more blood work done etc and is back on Tuesday. Next step is going to be to knock him out and scan/xray if there is little change on Tuesday. She also said she wanted to extract some urine direct from his bladder as well so I have a feeling it's going to be a knockout time for the little man next week.

Well, this is still ongoing.
Last weeks blood samples have come back and the vet says the cells have 'split' or 'exploded'. She says she doesn't know whether this is how Jack's blood is, or if it was just how the sample was transported. She wants to knock him out for a scan, but now daren't in case this is signifying a liver problem so we are on hold again until Monday when another set of bloods should be back.
He's happier within himself though there is still blood in his urine, albeit nowhere near as much.
I have noticed when he goes to the vets and is handled 'roughly' for bloods etc his first wee afterwards is always incredibly bloody. I have mentioned this to the Vet as well.
So, still waiting and still worrying really

Oh no, I was hoping the anti-biotics would sort him (and I know everyone else was too). Hugs to both you and Jack, looks like he'll have to be followed round the garden for a while longer!Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0
