Just wondering about the food thing - could you (and by you I don't necessarily mean you but I'm not sure if Mr B cooks?) do some batch cooking so you have homemade 'ready meals' there to have instead of takeaway (assume even if he doesn't cook he can work a microwave). It is really easy to spend more on food when you're too tired to cook!

I do batch cook, and DS cooks tea a lot as well. I have made up some curry sauces and bolognese sauces and these will be kept for future quick meals. I tend to work around a menu for weekly food so meals will always be a variation of that. It is a matter of getting way ahead of myself for the weeks and working on a monthly menu. Something i recognized a bit back. The same goes for dinners and planning accordingly. Mr.B does basic and heating up- he always reverts back to his old habits if left to his devices. When i first met him, he was on good terms with the local Chinese, the same goes for our local curry house! It may be worth building a six weekly treat in- so he doesn't feel deprived of take away..or i will buy the Take away secret book. :)

Hey Bobster, I applaud you in all of your efforts. This is probably too basic and he may already have done this but have you showed OH the MSE calculator thing where they tell you how much you save if you dont buy lunch at work and save the money instead? That really got me thinking and now even i take sandwiches and no longer waste money on work. Why pay them money (for lunches, coffees - or in my case Minstrels, coke and Kettlechips and very overpriced lunches and rounds of drinks) which is earned with such a lot of effort?

You have achieved so much and it sounds as though he is responding positively at present. Well done on your part. Stay strong, hugs.

Funnily enough i haven't just worked out costings and said he will save x amount of pounds per month, plus eat better as he tends to buy choccy bars and coffee.

Ooh, the costings thing might be the way to go then, especially if he's starting to wake up to it all.

I agree KC, Mr.B is on a day off today and was so pleased with himself as he has no spends at all since back to work on Tuesday:money::money: So something is getting through.:D

He has also sorted his shares out and has helped me with a few other budgeting things..:D

What a difference a couple of days have made. He is determined he says to crack the debt and that's all i want to hear. I don't expect it to be plain sailing but acknowledging things and working together will be the key to seeing off the rest of the debt and building a future.:D

I think i will record NSD for us both. As well as the budget challenges, it will be a massive motivator as will the spends calculator. Back to basics really does help.
