I e-mailed him and he replied pretty quickly - can't remember what he said cos I am at school but I will put it on here later. I asked him about why he used the term "gay guy" in his title - what has this got to do with anything?? I think he is pretty sick now thinking about it:mad:

    I think it's a con
looking at dates on his brothers death certificate the brother died aged 42 and was born in 1954 so he died in 1996, the e-bay advertiser was 5yrs younger so that would make him 37 then and 46 yrs old now.
He says his mum died then brother died year after, after he had cared for them for 7 yrs starting when he was 22 but he would have been 37 when his brother died not 29/30.

You're absolutely right, it is a con ... he also states his mother was diagnosed 10 years ago when according to her death certificate she died aged 69 and was born in 1926 so actually DIED 10 years ago

I didn't read beyond the first few lines but checked the certificates and that was enough to prove he is a fraud and a bl00dy sick one at that

Edit: Did he think by scrubbing out the date of death no one would figure it out from the rest of the details

I'm glad i continued to read everyones comments here cos i was almost taken in by it. I guess i'm just to trusting of people and can't believe someone no matter how awful they are would stoop to those lengths. The story was sad and believable but maybe i'm gullible. I was actually going to pay him some money and i have none of my own!! And i never ever do these kinds of things or fall for these kinds of things.

As I said eariler, I thought it was genuine. Are we 100% sure it isn't? I was never going to pay him any money though, why should I? If I was going to give money to *charity*, I would give it to an official one such as comic relief coming up soon. I am very tempted to email him again with this evidence and question his auction again.

I don't think eBay will keep it going for much longer anyways. And the really sad thing - people are falling for it and paying him money out of pure sympathy. It is against all human morals and ethics if he has made it all up - and it takes someone really sick to do that, to manipulate people and to use a someones death certificate on the net like that. The more I think about it, the more angry I get.

Once again can I ask are we 100% sure it is all made up? or at least he hasnt done his calculations correctly?!

PS he has now sold 52 of these - that's $52, not even enough to pay for his Featured Plus! and Home Page Featured Listing which cost a bomb!

PPS this is the reply I got to the email when I questioned the "gay guy" title:

I am just using it because most gay guys (not all) do end up alone at some point. It's a hard lifestyle, especially if you lose your family at a younger age. I guess the title was to catch the eye. But mostly its true. Thanks for the question.

Followed by this e-mail when I replied:

No problem Josh. I understand. Plus there are a lot of scammers out there. However, mine is a true story.

    Take care.

I am off to work! 02

Well besides all the other listing fees, he's got it in a Featured Plus! Listing costing $19.95. Not only that its a Home Page Featured Listing costs $39.95!!

Considering he's soooo skint, how can he afford such luxuries?
