'registered as a debt against you' : could.

'your ability to obtain credit affected' : could.

you could donate the 'charge' to the torontoboy beer fund ( charity registration pending ).

you could. but you won't. I just know it.

    ignore these cretins.

    Hi everyone,
I have received a parking charge notice from Topher Ltd after overstaying in a Homebase car park. Having read all the previous discussions and advice about private parking companies, I am planning to ignore it, though I am apprehensive about receiving further letters from them.
I just wanted some reassurance really that ignoring them was the right thing to do, or if I should write to them. I know some seem to holder the driver responsible, but this one is aimed at the registered owner, so they have the correct recipient and our details. Does that make a difference? Also, they appear to be members of the British Parking Association - again not sure if that really means much?

Thanks - very appreciative of this forum and the advice it gives. I tried to attach the letter from Topher to add to the database of letters but it wouldn't allow me to as I am a new user - will try again at some point.

You'll be wanting to send an email to my "mate" Terry at Home Retail Group who own Homebase. Hopefully he's getting a bit fed up of them by now. Strange, as I thought G24 were his preferred scammers. Nice to see Coupon Mad mention Highview as my partners car overstayed at Tescos today by a few minutes while doing the shopping so look forward to that set of threatograms as I'd never heard of them before and can't see them in the sticky:rotfl:

But I digress, here's mucker Terry's email address, go give him hell :

  • Thanks everyone. I have now received a third letter, entitled 'Legal Action Pending' and asking for a total of £115 now! We will continue to ignore, and I really hope it doesn't go much further!

    I appreciate all the responses...

I'd just send the letter back marked rejected or refused.
  • Just wondered what has happened now? If you had paid it or if you still haven't and they have taken further action? I'm only asking as I have recently got a parking charge notice and a parking charge notice reminder and i'm not sure if I should pay it or not?! I'm in a tricky situation because I'm not the registered owner of the vehicle but it was me driving the car on this occasion, so it would be affecting someone else's credit rating! Many thanks.

No it wouldn't! What on earth makes you think that ignoring a scam can affect your credit rating, or that of the registered keeper?

Don't even THINK about paying or 'appealing' (LOL!), this is a well-known 'fake PCN scam' and there's TONS of info about it on this very sub-forum:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Just read up on the scam, look at ANY thread underneath the stickies which is not about Council PCNs.

Then look back up at the sticky info threads permanently at the top of the forum. Read 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting'.

If after an hour's reading of info, and after watching the Watchdog video, you still think you actually have a parking ticket or fine then please come back and ask more questions.

And make sure you enlighten the registered keeper so you can laugh at the scamograms together, both secure in the knowledge that this is all a mail scam.

Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police, TFL or a Council.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
