Parking Charge Notice from Topher Ltd

Hi everyone,
I have received a parking charge notice from Topher Ltd after overstaying in a Homebase car park. Having read all the previous discussions and advice about private parking companies, I am planning to ignore it, though I am apprehensive about receiving further letters from them.
I just wanted some reassurance really that ignoring them was the right thing to do, or if I should write to them. I know some seem to holder the driver responsible, but this one is aimed at the registered owner, so they have the correct recipient and our details. Does that make a difference? Also, they appear to be members of the British Parking Association - again not sure if that really means much?
Thanks - very appreciative of this forum and the advice it gives. I tried to attach the letter from Topher to add to the database of letters but it wouldn't allow me to as I am a new user - will try again at some point.

Ignore them and ignore all the "silly letters" they will send.
If you contact them you will be subjected to harassment as they know they have a worried fish on the hook.
The only thing anyone should respond to is stamped court papers and they are as rare as gold plated chickens dentures and even so they have yet to win a correctly defended case.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for your responses..
I have noticed that in the Private Parking Tickets section of this site, it says 'Unlike official parking tickets, when on private land, it is the DRIVER, not the owner who is liable, because a contract to park is formed between the landowner and the driver'. Our parking charge says 'having checked your details with the DVLA, you were the registered owner/keeper of this vehicle at the time of parking'. It makes no reference to the driver (in fact, I now notice it doesn't even state anywhere what the charge is for!) Would they still need to find out who the driver was?
Many thanks0 -
Sorry trisontana, I think the link should start s1234, not i1234:

Here is the link
Stupid letter. First they are talking about an "offence" - I wonder what statute law has (not) been broken here?
And with many PPCs, they can't seem to be able to differentiate between the driver and the registered keeper. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Hello Lizerazou. To ease your worries, you and I are on the same boat. I got a PCN from the same Topher on 1 April 2011 in a Yeovil car park. I confess that I didn't so much overstay but never bought a ticket to even park. People don't usually advise this but for the purpose of this thread, over three months have now lapsed and I have received nothing. It is folly to write to them when it is their task to locate the driver and obtaining registered keeper details brings them no closer to this milestone. It looks as if this bunch does not follow on with threatograms, they issue a PCN and hope for the best.
Of course, if your case is different and you do receive reminders and warnings - yes you may safely ignore, Topher is a PPC and nothing that APCOA isn't.0 -
Once could profitably run a search on the postcode.
You will see a pattern.0
