  • They told me they were unable to accept Vouchers for the deposit too. But the deposit I put down was 10%, not 30%.
  • MFI always have a sale!!! I went into MFI Chester on Saturday and looked at a Melbury bedroom package for £249. It clearly said that it included double robe x2 (and other items). I queried this with the sales assistant as it seemed too cheap. She said that is what you get if that is what it says. I checked with my daughter to see if that was what she wanted and went back. When we sat down with the assistant on the computer it only included one wardrobe and they wouldn't honour the leaflet on the display, which they promptly took away. I will go elsewhere now.

Yes, Thanks for letting me know whats you are being asked for a deposit. 10 % seems ok but 30%? I've looked for a minimum deposit in tesco and mfi terma and conditions and cant find it anywhere. Think I might have to go higher..... Anyone know what offer starts tomorrow?
2p or not 2p? That is the question!
  • I ordered 2 wardrobes and 2 chest of drawers on Sunday, I already had converted last months vouchers into MFI deals so had those in my bag - I asked him for extra shelves for both the wardrobes and without any prompting he said he would throw those in - then when I said look i definatley want these and you can have the vouchers I have already(£525) with the others coming later, but is that the best you can do? - he went off, came back and knocked another £80 off!!!!
No mention of not taking vouchers for a deposit, just wanted us to order really, so moral is ask for everything you can!

...we visited MFI in Trowbridge today to price up mattresses. Silentnight Miracoil Memory Splendour mattress on display with no price, the brochure promptly showed that their maximum price would £1120! They agreed to sell it for £400 plus £20 Delivery - Deal done.

Got home and checked on Mattressman.co.uk the same mattress with the name of Miracoil Memory Comfort for £289 Delivered free. With us in 2 days unlike MFI who quoted 5 weeks!

MFI will be getting their order cancelled as per their Customer Charter - unbelievable prices on show and claimed. They even said that on Thursday this mattress would be half-price but we would be getting an unbeatable deal - unbeatable unless you visit Mattressman i guess.

Bad time to buy at the moment (JUNE), they are out of sale twice a year and thats June and December. They have to have stuff at an "established" price for 4 weeks every 6 months.

Thanks for that information ScoobyZ, daft system though if the ultimate price drop is still to be beaten by the good old adage of shopping around

You just have to keep your eyes open and be patient - the right kind of sale will always come along at MFI, and will ALWAYS be extended. I went in to the wrong kind of 'Sale' last week to order another wall cupboard to match my kitchen (bought last year in the real sale). When told the assistant that I'd come back when the half-price-plus-20%-off sale was on, she told me that she could always do a special price if I asked ncely (which I did). I couldn't believe my ears when the 'special price' turned out to be £1,400 for one cupboard - I'd only paid £6,000 for the entire kitchen, containing 18 units with plinths/cornices/end panels/fancy drawer fitments, the lot. She obviously meant specially inflated. I said I had to check with my husband first (as if!!) and left.

That's exactly the sort of thing I've been trying to tell people about on here. If a shop has a continuous sale, then why do people still believe they are getting a bargain???

You can even get better value than mattressman if you shop around. Also if you want a mattress to last more than a couple of years, then stay away from Silentnight.

I went to our local MFI [Administration] Closing down sale this morning - everything 70% off. I bought a bed and mattress combination, including the Silentnight Miracoil Splendour mattress above (Kingsize) with Kingsize "Minori" bed. I thought I was getting a great deal as it should have been about £2,200 (ridiculous price!) for the lot and I paid £660 with 70% off

But after reading this thread, I'm now not so sure the deal I got was very good; it was a spur of the moment thing (normally I do lots of research!)

So...should I rethink and cancel and go to mattressman etc. Or have I got a good deal?

Also, is my mattress a really good one - I assumed it was as their full price is £1310 for the mattress, but now, I'm starting to wonder.

    Thanks
