I rang MFI tonight to see if sale was going to be extended and salesperson told me not but that tomorrow is start of "VAT free" offer.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

Main thing they do is always 50% off. This is the normall price. they then add an extra offer such as.
50% + 20% off (then they extend it) towards the end of the offer near the wednesday you can get a back pocket offer of free washing machine, or free flip down TV
50% + no VAT (works out 15% off ie £85 + vat = £100) sounds good as people think they get 17.5% off which is vat. They also have a back pocket deal where they can offer the other 5%
next is the "out off sale" offer. This is normally buy one get one free. So the price doubles but you get one free. This lets them put the item back up to the "Normal" price thus keeping to the law regarding an item being offered for at least 28 days in the preceeding 12 months at the full price.
They will probably still be able to offer you the extra 5% as a back pocket deal.0 -
Haggle, haggle, haggle.
I had £1150 worth of MFI vouchers from my Tesco clubcard points. Everything I wanted came to £105.04 over this budget. I said I was willing to wait until was a half price + 30% when I ordered on the 3rd Jan. I gave the 'broke, strict budget' line (true!!!) and he gave me the head board I wanted which was £100 for free. I happily handed over my vouchers and £5.04 in cash.
Ask for an extra discount. There is a screen with all the discount codes on - double discount/double discount bedroom etc. I saw them on his PC when he was looking for a way to get me closer to my budget so I didn't walk. My 'deal' meant he had to enter a 'Manager's Password' , so they can do the deals if you push.
I know someone who went in and asked and got 5% extra off without the staff batting an eyelid.0 -
I got the managers code override discount on my mattress that i bought so instead of paying £376 in my clubcard vouchers, i paid £340.
They didn't give me any discount on the sofabed, and delivery is £20 but i phoned later and asked why i was being charged double when it's only £10 online and was told to phone back today, which i am now going to do.
Was also told it was a metal action sofabed but have since found out it isn't, do you think i could get them to knock anything off for that?Lost lbs =

I have saved £270 in tesco vouchers for a £300 bedstead in MFI. They were looking for 30% deposit and £20 delivery fee from me. On Saturday the saleswoman said she would take £20 deposit and the vouchers if that suited. When I phoned last night she said the computer wouldn't take this. I explained that I didn't want to pay 30% when I have the vouchers. She cheekily told me I was looking something for nothing. I replied that I had spent the money in Tescos which has earned the vouchers. I haven't ordered the bed now but am furious at her attitude. What should I do? I can't find anything saying they require 30% deposit. Advice appreciated!!!!2p or not 2p? That is the question!0

We were allowed to use £15 vouchers as a deposit for a £429 sofabed.. that was without us even asking.
I'd speak to her manager or escalate it higher if need be.Lost lbs =

50% + VAT free sale price = £412.70

I'm sure there is something in the MFI bit of the Tesco Deals site that says that MFI won't take vouchers as deposits. And you were unfortunate enough to get a jobsworth sales assistant - some of them are so miserable that you'd swear they were having to make up the difference from their own pockets!0 -
Just checked the Terms & Conditions on the Tesco Deals/MFI page - it states that MFI won't take vouchers as part of the minimum deposit required.0
