Under braking in the wet the hinglongdingdong tyres on my shed are noticeably worse than better ones.

    Alba tellies are crap.

I therefore conclude that all budget tellies are crap, including Samsungs.

I wouldn't really call Samsung a budget brand. They're definitely mid-range these days.

Plus an Alba telly probably isn't going to kill you.

That said, the idea of an Alba tyre would terrify me because I once owned an Alba tape player and the capstan was elliptical rather than round.

All budget tellies ARE crap - only B&O for me, none of your peasant brands.

Out of interest, Wig, where abouts do you drive?

    Pontypridd <----> Bridgend

By any one of 4 different routes The 4th being a combination of routes 2 & 3.

What can I say, other than this doesn't happen to me.

I don't go quite that far west normally.. are there any little lanes over the mountains that way? I only remember comparatively flat ones on the few times I've been to Bridgend with someone who knows all the shortcuts.

So we are no where near any truth in this thread about tyres then? As every tyre that people buy for their different cars are producing different results for different people.

In my view(as a man who doesnt drive) and the view i have with all consumer goods is that you buy the best you can afford

Amongst the ok and good tyres, some have characteristics that better suit the design certain cars, e.g. stiffer sidewalls may have a more noticeable affect on handling on one type of suspension but less noticeable on another. Also some people may prefer certain characteristics (e.g. compare mountain bike tyres to road bike tyres)

Crap tyres will be crap on all cars though.

The interesting thing is, I have a work colleague who had Linglongs on his 3-series, changed the rears to Events and now has Sunitracs on the front.

Even I'm surprised to note that he hasn't ended up in a ditch, as he drives like a complete loon.

If you lose grip you are driving too fast simple as that.
I don't lose grip simple as that.

Another succesful day on the roads today to match the last 20 odd years no skids, no slips, no ABS.

Oh but that can't be right, because you say it can't be right, oh silly silly me, I should have asked you if I had lost grip let's say in the last 5 years because you would know that wouldn't you.!
you and your bloody ABS, what do you know about ABS? you understand that there are factors beyond your control that affect when the ABS starts working such as the grip coefficient of the tyres, the condition of the brake fluid and the fact that your ABS is different to all 2million+ cars of the same make and year model to your car no matter of part number. and any way how do you know when your ABS as activated?

"If you lose grip you are driving too fast simple as that." No its not simple as that, that statement is a load of crap total ignorance. what if your setting off in snow, drive over diesel spill? This world is run by laws of physics not fairy and pixie dust, your tyres lose grip all the time while accelerating, braking and cornering how do you think they wear?
