Oh god, don't get me started on that one. Having to brake hard, and then having to change lanes into the unploughed lane because some twonk in an X5 is sliding towards you... not fun.
What was fun was when they eventually stopped and got out to check their brakes or whatever, and were promptly sprayed with snow by me still in the unploughed lane. Childish but they deserved it0 -
Stop making this statement, it is NOT correct. You cannot find a difference, that's fine but your statements are simply false I'm afraid, I've experienced the difference first hand as have many others.
As before its completely your choice idyl you want to put on the cheapest of the cheap and that's fine. Cheap tyres are NOT equivalent to a decent l mid range or performance Tyre and WILL offer less grip particularly on wet surfaces.
Please do some research on the subject, there is plenty online to back up what I'm saying. Stop stating this nonsense as fact, please!
So you agree that I don't find a difference and then say my statements are false. What statement of mine is false - given that you agree I don't find any difference?
What on Earth are you talking about?0 -
You're at it wig
You can't find a difference, hundreds of thousands of others can, don't pass off your own views as fact0 -

And you are stretching the truth as your prices are already shown not to be representative of what you could achieve
.Fair enough you buy purely on price rather than what offers best value for money - many don't understand the difference in that. That is very similar as buying purely for the name at the end of the dayAs previously, one persons annecdotal evidence as to them not seeing any difference on premium vs budget tyres means nothing. I appreciate you will continue to buy purely the cheapest tyres you can find as is your right. One can only hope they continue to serve you well.....
I think you're all delusional or driving too fast for the conditions. Hope you're not all driving behind me too.0 -

If you lose grip you are driving too fast simple as that.
I don't lose grip simple as that.
Another succesful day on the roads today to match the last 20 odd years no skids, no slips, no ABS.
Oh but that can't be right, because you say it can't be right, oh silly silly me, I should have asked you if I had lost grip let's say in the last 5 years because you would know that wouldn't you.!0 -
Think you need to get a bigger rod.
Keep driving your 20 quid a corner tyres, ill keep driving on mine that let me drive far too fast. if I was on yours I'd likely lose grip but as I don't my tyres are just a branded excess and really I'm a mug. How silly of me0 -
you've changed your tune.....good0

What are you talking about? I gave ball park figures on what I think I can achieve. You seem to know how much I can buy a mid range tyre for when I don't even know that information myself, except I reckon I can get them a couple of quid cheaper than blackcircles and the average at blackcircles is £50, So sorry, I misrepresented by £2 that was really bad of me, I was just trying to keep things simple.
So you guessed and someone posted some actual figures - fair enough at least you admit its just a guess. Not onterested in the £2 - keep it and put it towards your next purchase
.That IS value for money for me, there is no difference between them so value for money is buying the cheapest
No thats your opinion on there being no difference - a point you keep missing. No point in keep explaining - some people get it others don't, that is fineI think you're all delusional or driving too fast for the conditions. Hope you're not all driving behind me too.
I'm out, we clearly don't agree and that's fine with me - its the internet Wig, you don't always have to be "right"0 -

Fact: I have experienced over the last 24 years of driving, no difference between cheapest tyres and brandname tyres, this is because I drive according to the conditions, I don't drive anywhere near the limit required to lose grip on the roads. Therefore I never get "close enough" to notice any difference. I therefore buy cheapo tyres because to pay more makes no sense due to this fact. Why? Never said I skidded or used ABS - I just have a much greater in built safety margin by buying premium rubber, mainly in wet conditions. Everyone should know where there limits are on their cars so they don't get surprised if they ever reach themyou don't always have to be "right"0 -
Out of interest, Wig, where abouts do you drive?
Plenty of roads around my way where you can feel the difference even at low speeds, for example there is one road I use daily single track road with tall hedges either side, I'm doing 15-20mph in first gear and still having to brake to maintain that speed because the hill is so steep. On this particular day the road also has a decent amount of downhill running water going on. I'm nearing the bottom and then suddenly some twonk in a chavved up Fiesta comes flying around the corner at about 40ish mph, presumably hoping to carry enough speed to get him up the hill. I brake hard, ABS kicks in and stops me with minimal downhill sliding, Fiesta brakes hard too, we end up with our front bumpers about 2 feet apart.
If I'd had crappy tyres on we would have collided. FWIW I've enountered this car several times before on this road, I guess he commutes in the opposite direction to me, and I know he's running good tyres.
He's not the worst person I encounter on these roads either. That honour is reserved for the builders vans who seem to think that the NSL limit on these roads means such speeds are ok.0
