Are you reading what I post or using The Force.

Where, exactly, did I mention I was a vehicle examiner, you need help:rotfl:

You didn't and therefore have no expert knowledge on the cause of any of the collisions you have been to.

You know so little, don't you. Why would a vehicle examiner be looking into a crash, he would be examining the car, the clue is in the job title, "Vehicle Examiner".

How do you think Ambos know what is and isn't a serious vehicle collision. Do you think we get a text message from God!

Lol, you really are clutching at straws today.

You are so ignorant of the responsibilities and skill sets of the Emergency Services it is funny, Walt............

I must admit that I ignore him and he just replies stupidly to every post I make.

I should perhaps put him on ignore but there is nothing more satisfying than Walt Baiting.

I think what Sue was asking is, are expensive tyres actually better built than cheap ones?... or am i wrong?

It's no wonder though really, is it?

At the beginning of this thread I asked what I thought was a pretty straightforward question. I have received categorically opposite advice, together with every variation in between.

Along the way, various other questions / issues have been raised. Again, no-one seems to know the definitive answers, and everyone has their own opinion.

And this from a collection of people who all profess to know what they're talking about. I, on the other hand, fully acknowledge that, when it comes to tyres, I don't know what I'm talking about. That's why I'm so confused by the myriad contradictory replies here, and no better off than I was at the beginning of the thread. All we seem to have established is that I shouldn't trust the tyre dealers (unless I happen to be passing through Rainham), and that everything else is open to opinion.

I'm beginning to think it'd be easier to get the bus. Cue huge debate about bus tyres............... :D

    Remember it's the internet though.
Everyone has the job they should have, all the qualifications they'll ever need, and all the experience they can imagine.

There are varied opinions in every thread, but you can read any of them, and decide which ones are relevant to you, and which posters are happy to post an opinion for you to consider, and which posters just want to be right.

I think most of us agree, some tyres are better than others, generally the branded ones are better, but equally, do you need the better tyres, it depends on how you drive.
OP probably does, with lots of high speed motorwaydriving, where stopping may be an important consideration, unlike pottering down to the corner shop, where you won't even go if it's bouncing down.

I have no problem with any of that, I was purely passing comment on this statement:

There are so many people with no understanding of the basics.

Which makes it sound like the basics are completely straightforward and we're all imbeciles for not understanding them, when in fact the contents of this thread demonstrate how very far from straightforward the basics are!

Even the 'experts' can't agree, so how the hell should poor little ol' me understand the sodding basics??????

I've bought the cheapest, used, off ebay, and they've have been fine.
Would I use them for continuous high speed motorway use, from a very hot 90f when they'll be running at 70mph for hours, and getting overheated, to running in a monsoon when you can barely see through the wipers?
Maybe not, but I'd certainly use them to nip to tesco's round the corner.
    Horses for courses.
