But then they will be hit in the dispatch time stars and maybe poor communication
Communication maybe but Amazon clearly states that any order placed with them or a seller is always subject to Royal Mails periods ie. 10 working days (14 days). As this is standard I assume eBay would also state this somewhere.
Sure, feedback will be left from customers on delivery times but theoretically that isnt valid feedback, it is just customers not knowing the basics of online shopping.
Playtrade for example has a notoriously poor feedback system whereby no customer actually takes any notice of it. This is because anyone could place an order and leave feedback within 24 hours in most cases so all that happens is people treat it as a message board by leaving a neg rating and saying "item still not arrived" which deems it pointless.
So I'm just saying if eBay is similar in any way then feedback on delivery times are generally ignored anyway by other customers and put down to idiots leaving feedback as it has nothing to do with the seller if Royal Mail can't pick something up and delver it in good time.
Therefore that still leaves these jokers well ahead0 -

Also, obviously they will simply mark as dispatched as soon as they receive the order but only send it out a few days/a week later. After all, with first class post there is no tracking number so if a CD arrives with you 5 days after ordering, for example, you would have no way of knowing if it was sent straight away or not and neither would you really care as it still arrived within the maximum period. Not all packages will be dated!0 -
But won't packages coming from the channel islands have some sort of date on them (on the customs clearance thingie)?0

Have I missed something, do estocks/zoverstocks ship from the channel islands? Sorry to ask what may be the obvious but I was not aware.
Even so, I guess it depends on the postage service used. I don't know, the posties can answer that one...0 -
Wow this thread is rife with speculation based on so little information!
The only correct thing so far is that they ship from Guernsey. Yes there is a lot of negative feedback on their eBay, but their overall score is 99.4%, which is by no means bad...0 -

The conclusions here are not really valid.
Yes, standing on the 'letter of the law' on the delivery time rules gives people 14 days but customers know that if you order something from a decent supplier it will almost always turn up 1-3 days later.
They will get bad feedback for frequently taking nearly a fortnight and people will take notice.
I'd always pay a little extra rather than deal with people with iffy feedback. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

But have you read those comments, particularly the comments regarding lack of comms? Are we suggesting companies shouldn't need to bother speaking with their customers, particularly when they are making a valid complaint? Any company that completely ignores it's customer's complaints doesn't deserve to be in business as they have no respect for the people lining their pocket. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

For me, anyone with less than 99.7% gets their feedback investigated - 99.4% for a large business is very poor.
Lack of communication is an absolute stop sign.
You can usually get a feeling for which bad feedback is reasonable and which is just someone on a hair trigger and act accordingly. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Sorry but have to disagree. I work for a very large seller (not on eBay but on other marketplace platforms), so we have thousands of feedback ratings. Everything is shipped same day from our warehouse with Royal Mail first class post so we tick all the boxes for a "decent supplier" as we also sell everything at a very good price (as we are also a major wholesaler) HOWEVER we still we get some feedback and queries relating to Royal Mail delivering the item over 10 days later or, of course, not at all. We know every item is dispatched but some do not arrive or are delayed therefore to state that any delivery comment suggests the seller is not "decent" just is not right.
Its either customers lying through their teeth or Royal Mail letting us down. EVERY seller will have this crap, the difference with the likes of these estocks guys (if they are the infamous "zover" from Amazon) is that when looking at their Amazon feedback, from experience they MUST leave their own feedback, there is no 2 ways about it.
Considering the amount of grief they get all over the net on a regular basis, they still have a ridiculously high lifetime feedback rating which simply is too suspect for them not to be ordering themselves and leaving their own feedback, it wouldn't surprise me if they emplyed people to do just that all day, every day.
So the point being do not always take 100% notice of delivery feedback as we are a good seller and a reliable one too but postal issues happen.
EDIT. Also, it is the opinion of many sellers that feedback with comments relating to delivery is not valid anyway as that is, in effect, feedback on the delivery service and as most sellers use the same Royal Mail service as everyone else then the seller cannot be blamed really. If an item is lost in the post, that would have happened at that point, on that date regardless of where it was ordered or sent from.0 -
Naming your competitor on here was a bit of a mistake. Free advertising! I don't know your ebay ID but I've just gone to have a look at what your competitor is selling!0
