Grant Shapps, Housing Minister, just makes it up. People ask, 'have you collected evidence to prove that' and he says 'yes'. Why didn't you send it to the committee looking at the impact of benefit cuts on housing? 'It wasn't available then'. end of conversation, no suggestion of sending it now.
Well get onto your MP. That's what committees are for - bring these people in, crucify them for their ineptitude, then ask their boss to go on record expressing their full confidence in their abilities. Rinse and repeat. Eventually a re-shuffle drops their card.They really do like to work on no evidence at all and bury any conflicting evidence - like the survey on how many people are happy with the NHS / their GP.
That's how many organisations work - groupthink
Then we get the usual "we didn't know" when the damn think explodes in their face. And the euphemism "lessons have been learned" which means "business as usual".
Of course it is unlikely to be business as usual in the current hacking scandal - it's amazing what a few executions (even if it is only a career) does to crimp people's fond ideas about invulnerability.I don't blame the bod at the DWP for telling me there were no jobs. She even turned the screen round to prove there were no jobs - big fat zero in the middle of the screen.
Wouldn't it have been great if she'd turned it round and in big red letters it said;
'Computer says NO'

when you tried to visit a forbidden web site...Somebody's 3 year old was distributing the jobs list, which did make me smile. She was very organised.
