    That's called the "Government" approach to finance...

    Although I have to say I think you are right, having heard about them trying to trick people out of job seekers allowance.

    Not just trying, but doing. And of course it's the vulnerable/educationally subnormal that they targetted, not the ones that can play the system.

    Hasn't helped the career of William Hague...

    Is William Hague not all there then? I thought it was his offensive wearing of baseball caps and Yorkshire accent that had held him back!

    They 'alledgedly' sent me a letter inviting me in for a chat about what they can do to help me, the chat is tomorrow. Unfortunately they didn't though. It's just the bloke on the other side of the desk saying to me 'Oh you're in again tomorrow' and me going 'no' that raised the issue. Otherwise they'd be trying to stop my money this week and feeling the full force of my MP and me landing on them.

    As for whether they can help me, well they could try being a bit happier in their jobs (not easy I know) and not keep saying 'the computer says no' to me. (Well not literally!) The woman last time was like she was having a really bad day which is not what I need when I am having a really bad life, and did say 'Lets see what there is' 'Oh there's absolutely nothing'.

    It's great. Makes you feel really upbeat - not!

    Hi Bookie, Hi Beanie.

    Yes, absolutely no jobs for me according to their system - repeated today again but much more nicely. Fortunately I have other systems and other contacts to go through.

    No it's his rather unfortunate habit of denying outright an allegation with the full force of ignorance, then coming back later eating humble pie and claiming people "misinterpreted" something.

    He should give the old "give me your evidence and I'll get back to you" thing a try...

    Approach your MP anyway. You are, right now, a credible witness. DWP would normally say "she's only using 'it was never sent' as an excuse for not turning up." You did turn up, and it was never sent - that puts them on the back foot.

    Well I can't really blame her for telling you there was absolutely nothing. Otherwise you'd get some long scripted speech about how the DWP were doing all that was possible, and that they were the best DWP in the *entire* world etc etc - and you *really* don't want that. That's definitely a case of "be careful of what you wish for".

    But moaning about having a hard day - that's not very professional.

    Grant Shapps, Housing Minister, just makes it up. People ask, 'have you collected evidence to prove that' and he says 'yes'. Why didn't you send it to the committee looking at the impact of benefit cuts on housing? 'It wasn't available then'. end of conversation, no suggestion of sending it now. They really do like to work on no evidence at all and bury any conflicting evidence - like the survey on how many people are happy with the NHS / their GP.

    I don't blame the bod at the DWP for telling me there were no jobs. She even turned the screen round to prove there were no jobs - big fat zero in the middle of the screen.

    Wouldn't it have been great if she'd turned it round and in big red letters it said;

    'Computer says NO'

    Somebody's 3 year old was distributing the jobs list, which did make me smile. She was very organised.
