  • I might have to put the heating on to dry clothes, I forgot about that!
I'm sat here just finished working for the day with a hot water bottle, I think it might be warmer outside than in!

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Good news today here at GBT- found some more blue wool in the charity shop and found 6p on the pavement. Most of my week has been taken up with signing on with a few more agencies and I did actually have a job interview yesterday from an online position I applied for so although I am unlikely to get it it does feel like a step in the right direction.
My jolly good chum who was also made redundant [we worked together] got together today for a spot of frugal mischief. I bought her the same tub of wooden beads from the Works for her leaving pressie- she brought them up with her and we made a range of bracelets in different colours. We also drank a vast amount of tea and may just have chattered the tiniest bit:rotfl::rotfl:

  • A bit of excitement I had the BBC at my door the other day asking if they could use my house to film the Borrowers Christmas special. I do hope they don't change their minds as I have mentally spent the money![/QUOTE

Wow wizzy woo. That is excellent. SIL was telling us about someone where she used to work in Alderley Edge that had their house used for filming. It was brilliant money but they did leave the house in a bit of a state after, might be worth just asking how it will be left. Or are they filming outside?
Oh I'm imaging you live in one of those 3 story Georgian houses in London now.

Don't get carried away Dizzy - they want mine to be the poor house without the Christmas lights!:rotfl:

I'm in a very messy Victorian house!

Originally he was interested in filming outside possibly entering the hall but then he asked if he could see the kitchen as it has steps leading down to it which he was interested in.

That was a complete bomb site so rather embarrassing and to add to it I wasn't feeling too great so was in my faux Cath Kidston pyjamas!

Anyway on a more serious note poor old Wedgie has had to stay over night at the vets.

I hope she'll be ok bless her!

do it! maybe see if there's a local community / conservation group you can help out with that will let you take some of the wood home? that's what i'm doing.

i've been out twice with them this week and am hoping to pop over for a few hours today as well. it was a quiet work week i'm making the most of my time... and hoping the housework will somehow get done too!

i had to go get new jeans for this endeavour, as i ONLY had 1 pair of work linen trousers and couldnt afford to rip them. i'm a long skirt kind of girl, and i ripped my only jeans into 1 legged hotpants in the move! i HATE jeans shopping, but found a pair in my fave charity shop for 2.00! :j:j wooo!
23rdspiral well done on the hoop. What a bargain :T
thanks, it seems to be holding together fine (loose joints would be bad and a reason why some one would get rid of it. i've got a smallish stonehenge kit attached already :D)

Hi all, I am back off of our holidays and am so pleased to report that the frugal habit must have been ingrained as I took 495 euros with us, and I came back with 325 of them!! Yipee. That can go into the pot to sort out the up and coming birthdays etc before Christmas. But I am also hoping that I canget saving for another holiday for next year, so may keep the euro's for as long as I can and see if I can manage?
The cupboards are rather empty as is the freezer, and DGD will need some winter shoes now, as well as some warmer clothes. Although I can make some of those.
The council tax has gone up from £0 a month to £29, then £59 and now a month later its amended again and they are asking for £94 a month! As I am on ESA I am not sure I have the right income to pay all that in a month! So a few phonecalls as well.
The electric and Gas are due to change suppliers any day now, so there will be final bills from British gas as with my Broadband telephone which changed while I was away.
Ugh, but it should bring down the overall payments.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • I bought a pair of jeans and a nice tunic top on ebay last night for £8 ish, hope they fit!! Will also have a trawl round the charity shops when next in town. Got some Winter boots in Tescos for £19.50 and got loads of jumpers etc already so sorted for Winter I think. Going to work on finding wood and reducing bills this weekend.

Hope Wedgie is ok Ruby x
