  • Ahhh! Help!
I invited new guy over for shepherds pie tonight, and realised I don't really even know what's in shepherds pie!
So far I have browned lamb mince with onions carrots and lamb stock... its all cooled and in fridge for what I assumed I just needed to add the mash.... please help salvage this to resemble shepherds pie.
I'll be stealing some potatoes from my parents house (y buy when they r on holiday) and picking up some sweet potatoes to make crisps for on the side.
This is first time I've cooked for him!

Should I make rice pudding for afters, or something else? I can make cakes, and I'm not afraid to bake new things... I have a glut of eggs (I get a doz for £1.50, free range, organic) but he gave me some from his sisters chicks...

Hi everyone, I haven't been on her for absolutely ages! My business took off and my spending did too. Then I quickly got into a habit of using my CC so it give me extra time to pay things off and it's all gone a bit s**t. I am so annoyed at myself because although I can pay it off it's going to be really tight and I should have kept a better control. So, I am going to cut it up! Hubbie will still have one for emergencies and buying online (added security) but it will stop me spending. I am off now to catch up with the last 1000 pages and get some inspiration!! x x

MalleyCat still hadn't came home, I've bn out looking, the other cats know she's not here, the come to the garden and keep going past, whereas they used to come to the door n meow til she went out.
A notice will be put in the paper this week . Hope someone has her and hands her back!

Don't give up - my pal's cat was away for around 7 months .... she walked in the door one evening after work and there was the wee soul lying quite happily on my pal's bed wondering why everyone was making such a fuss of her!

Sorry to hear about your carp evening - but glad things seem OK now! (note to self: start knitting a hat if the winter throw is ever finished)

Just don't seem to have enough time to everything at the minute - Op is next week :eek::eek: so have been busy stocking up madly while I can still get out and about.

Went to I*kea today to get some fleece's to line my bedroom curtains and walked out having bought the 2 I wanted (£3.18) and nothing else. Then popped to Home Bar*gains and got a few bits (£4.15) - huge improvement on the "old me".:j:j (They have 1kg bags of Tilda rice in case anyone has one near - up to £3.99 in the supermarkets!).

Budgets looking OKish .... gas/elec majorly overspent but mainly down to moving supplier and having to pay the balance off the old one & starting to pay the new one last month (nearly wiped me out!).

A couple of others are slightly overspent but have stocked up pretty good :o - have my "winter emergency stash" just about complete (1 month supply of everything for me, cats & dog) apart from long life milk etc which I'll need to get at the weekend (have been putting off to try to get long dates).

However, I have managed to "mess" (not the word I would like to use) the SoW up - one of my overspent budgets is showing in black and not red .... any idea's what I've done?

Hope everyone's OK & hugs for anyone that needs (or would just like) one.

Heating won't be going on here either until Oct at the earliest.

My mortgage's going up £50 in November:eek: so need to try to find that from somewhere. Will have a hunt around but not sure if I'll be able to move it.

  • Hello savingforarainyday, welcome to the thread.

23rdspiral well done on the hoop. What a bargain :T

Lola pleased that everything has settled down now.

    rising from the ashes
just think in it will soon be over, well the main part anyway, and then you can breathe a sigh of relief.

I haven't got much motivation at the moment for anything. Have bought wool for a baby blanket for someone at work and might try doing a few squares before I go to bed. Otherwise it won't get started and baby is due next month! Arghh this rain and darkness, great for snuggling indoors to, but we can't do that 24/7.
    Mores the pity :(

Luv and warm hugs to everyone.

Hello everyone I had one of my intermittent MSE breaks and then went to the Isle Of Wight for the weekend so I will catch up on all your news later.

    Hope everyone is well.

We had a lovely time and were blessed with good weather except Sunday morning when it poured down so we just caught up on some sleep.

We were carrying out a reenactment of the film Stuck On You as OH's twin brother came with us!

The girlie has moved into the boys as he lucky thing is at the Great Wall of China!

I took Wedgie to the vets today for her thyroid operation bless her so hope that goes well.

She spent of ten minutes last night grooming Marmalade - the one with the cancer as she is no longer so conscientious. She is still going strong though!

Anyway that means a spendy day for me.

A bit of excitement I had the BBC at my door the other day asking if they could use my house to film the Borrowers Christmas special. I do hope they don't change their minds as I have mentally spent the money!

Last year the heating only went on in Fresian Towers when the snow came :o We have to use our GCH to heat the hot water, so I'm very tough on using it for any other reason.

We're chapmions at wearing layers and big socks here :D
